just wondered if anyone else has had a cold or been a bit under the weather for their chemo session, and whether the doctors have delayed treatment because of it? Hope not, i am due first of 3 tax on thursday but have that tickly back of throat/nose feeling so i think i am getting a cold. I feel sick at the thought of more chemo in thursday, but feel more sick at the thought of delaying it and my treatment timetable getting longer…
Vickie, l asked my breast care nurse about colds and chemo, she said as long as l didn’t have a temperature they would go ahead with it

I’ve been allowed to go ahead in the past providing that my blood counts have been ok.
Hope you get the go ahead as although we’d all like to not have to do it I’m sure it’s better to do it without delays!

great , ta,
I had a slight cold with a couple of my chemos, the oncologist made sure I did not have a chest infection or temperature which I didn’t and the chemo went ahead. On both ocasions they re did my bloods before they started the chemo and again they were ok. Just be honest with the nurses before they give you the chemo and you can be checked out, it doesn’t mean it will always be cancelled. They were extra careful with me and colds as I have asthma which is always triggered off when I get a cold. I had a lot of asthma during my chemo but never had my chemo delayed.
Good luck with your treatment

Hi Vickie, for tax your neutrophils need to be above 1.5 (1500). I was told as long as temp or and WBC above the 1.5 mark tax would go ahead! Good luck for tomorrow! Tinax

I always had very low blood count, and always had a very bad cold inbetween chemo sessions, but never had chemo delayed, they gave me the choice to go ahead or wait a few days, I always went ahead with it… Good luck tomorrow…

good luck for tomorrow I am sure it will go ahead as long as you don’t have an infection or high temperature - so fingers crossed - get the first one out of the way and you’re flying…xxxx
