4 years 11 months ago, I had an op for breast cancer, at the same time as the op, doctors told me that I also had Kidney failure, in November this year I was pushing to go on the transplant list after 5 years clear of cancer, unfortunatley I had a bone scan and CT scan in November, and it came back with two highly suspecious about 1 cm on both ribs, so I had to go and see my oncologist, he has made me aware that I might need chemo and herceptin again in January, but now I am on dialysis as well. My problem is I have not come accross anybody that has had these two life threatning problems at the same time, and as I was being treated for cancer first, then after to go on dialysis when my treatment had finish, I am worried how I’ll cope, as I am not so well on dialysis, so how long does it take to treat bone cancer???

I have bone mets dx at same time as primary in may this year. Bone mets are usually treated with zometa, through IV. Dose varies . I have mine every 3 weeks at the moment because I am having FEC chemo, and then Tax and herceptin. My onc says that he will then give me zometa every 6 weeks, as I will be on herceptin for the forseable future. Treating bc in the bones is as ongoing thing I think. I am sure that there will be other ladies along who could give you more info and support.
