GP's to or to not

Rose:::frowning:

at least this wont affect BC patients. Gp’s should send them to the clinic anayway for the best rather than order scans.

Typical Daily Mail hype

I work in a GP surgery, the Scans etc they are talking about are not cancer diagnostics scans. If a GP suspects cancer they should be referred to the specialist centres at the hospital using a 2 week form. This means an appointment should be made at the hospital within 2 weeks. The scans, MRIs etc are for the non suspected cancer aches and pains that patients go to their GP with.

I’ve had post menopausal bleeding twice and my GP has given me an emergency appointment form on both occasions. You wait 48 hours then ring the rapid appointment service on the leaflet; both times this has been for internal ultrasound as part of the appointment. The 48 hours gives the Consultant heading the clinic time to read the notes from the GP.

Lets face it, the DM talk out of their backsides when it comes to reporting anything to do with health. I am constantly on their case about this and often get online comments published re how bad their reports actually are. I’ve often heard it is banned from some waiting rooms as medics hate the health reports.
