I had a some core biopsies of breast lump and lymph node on Mon and was told today that the lump is grade3 ductal cancer but the lymph cells looked normal. I now have a wide margin local excision surgery & sentinel lymph node biopsy booked for 14th Sept but am worried that waiting a month for a grade 3 tumour is too long…does anyone have similar experiences or reassurance please as am still in shock.
Hi Shootingstar,
It is a shock getting a diagnosis, we’ve all been there.
Try not to worry about waiting a few weeks, it wont make any difference, but of course, waiting is not easy.
It’s good your nodes look normal & it is now being dealt with.
Do come & chat or vent on here whenever you need to, we’ve all been where you are now, but it does get better when your treatment plan is in place.
hugs

Thanks Ann it is reassuring to know I’m not alone and everyone else manages to get through it all despite having the same worries. Am sure will feel better emotionally once it is out of my body & I can’t see& feel it & treatment is underway. I asked my Doc if there is anything I can do myself diet/lifestyle wise to beat it &he said no carry on as before u are just unlucky but I am confused as there seems to be so much info on internet re anti cancer diets. I have given up alcohol, never smoked and have always been a healthy vegetarian but does anyone on here follow any particular beat cancer plan? I just want to feel in control and that I am doing something to fight it
Hi shooting star, I had to wait a month after initial diagnosis as I needed an MRI, this took 3weeks to get the timings right and then I had surgery 1week later. Its hard not to worry but every bit of waiting is to make sure it the best route four you personally. Be reassured that when they need to move quickly they do, so try not to worry, though that is easier said than done. This board is great for support though when you need spine reassurance.
Hi shootingstar,
Just be aware that there is a lot of cancer ‘woo’ out there, so do be sceptical about things you read.
When it comes down to it, eating healthily, any alcohol in moderation, not smoking & maintaining a healthy wewight is where its at.
Many of us look at lifestyles after diagnosis & make improvements.
This is worth a read to start with:

Shooting star, my diagnosis was exactly like yours. I went to Lanzerote for a month to build myself up. Had complete blessing of my surgeon . No change in size of tumour when I returned. Doubt if I would have managed the journey as well without my R&R! Doesn’t matter if you are rich or poor, fat or thin, vegetarian or carnivore, fit or not, this disease is a great leveller . You can improve your diet, I am sure, but as far as I am aware, there is no dietary cure for cancer. Once you know what type of cancer you have you can plan better. Eat healthily, exercise and stay hydrated - and that’s not alcohol! X
