Hi everyone, I went to the breast clinic on the 10/08/2026 full of hope that i just had a cyst. I wasn’t waiting too long before being called in to see the consultant, he examined me and said it felt like a none malignant lump possibly a cyst but I would need to have a mammogram and an ultrasound to confirm it. So off I went feeling quite relieved at the thought it was a cyst, but my mammogram and ultrasound told a different story leading to a biopsy. My daughter in law took me to the clinic and was with me during my consultation, when I was called back in to the consultants room I could tell by the look on his face that it was more than a cysts. He said the lump on it’s own wouldn’t have been a problem but the ultrasound had picked up a tentacle coming from it which was something they did not want to see. I knew from the way he spoke about it that they already new it was cancer and my daughter in law also felt the same and i burst into tears. On the 18/08/2026 I got the phone call confirming that it was a grade3 breast cancer and it is feeding off my hormones. That week waiting for my results was the longest week of my life, but no where near as long as waiting for my HER2 results which came back 3 weeks later but we’re borderline so hat to go back to be fish tested another 3 week wait it felt like a lifetime. Today the 06/10/2026 i had an appointment at the clinic for a post surgery bra fitting but with no luck as it feels like they think that women who are big breasted don’t get breast cancer and so they dont make them in the size i need absolutely ridiculous. I have an appointment this Thursday the 08/10/2026 with my consultant and hopefully will be given a date for surgery. People who have never suffered with cancer have no idea how it affects you, I am still in shock but coming to terms with it more now. I am 63 and I know how it’s affected me but omg my heart really goes out to all young women specially when you have young children as so many things go through your head. My youngest is 36 now but I have 4 grandchildren who I want to be around for to watch them grow up, but at least they will still have their parents if the worst should happen, the stupid thing i thought of was what will happen to my 2 beautiful Main Coon cats if the worst was to happen as they are my babies now. I hope and pray that all you lovely ladies all make a speedy recovery, i have named my lump Dave and I am giving him his eviction notice, my daughter calls it the darth vader lol.
Hi there wising you all the best for your treatment and surgery. After one year on post surgery and other treatments I’m navigating ongoing preventative medication choices and it’s definitely a journey and marathon rather than a sprint. Do lean into all support available I found breast cancer now nurses super helpful and very knowledgeable as the forum content. Look after yourself and treat yourself to something nice take care R.
Let’s be done with Dave!!!
I have been to see my consultant today and great news Dave is getting evicted next Thursday x
Wishing you all the best. Be kind and gentle to yourself during your recovery. It’s taken me 3 weeks to start to feel like myself again so be prepared for that.
I thought I was odd in naming my lump (I called mine Brenda) so it’s nice to see I’m not the only daft one ![]()
Thank you lovely, I hope your feeling better now and have a speedy recovery. We have to make light of it lovely as it messes your head up as it is, no one knows who have never been through it just how scared it makes you feel and what it does to your mental health so we have to laugh about it or we would cry. We women need to be there for each other and be strong xx
I think today is eviction day for Dave, he has long overstayed his welcome so good riddance! Well done on hanging on to your sense of humour, essential in our situation. I totally relate to you and the importance of your cats in your life. I lost my partner last year and my two are my babies and my main concern if anything happens to me. All the every best for today.
Hi i went for routine mammogram and got a recall 3 days later within one week i was in cork breast check having another mammogram, biopsy from the breast lump, a savi scout ineserted into the lump so the surgeon could find it, ultrasound and a face to face with the consultant surgeon where i had to sign a consent form for surgery…all in the same morning, still i was like “what a load of plaver over a lump”. My sister had breast cancer and never thought i would have it.
Two weeks later i was undergoing a lumpectomy and sentinel node biopsy, whilst in the recovery room the consultant told me my breast biopsy was HER2 pos. Met oncology team a few weeks later who told me i was HER2 triple positive, grade 3… no monkeying about, no long wait, 6 weeks after ive just completed my first of six intense chemo i actually still can’t really believe ive cancer, it all happened so fast! X
Hi it’s about a year since I was in your position. “Luckily” for me mine was stage two with no lymph nodes. You didn’t say if your surgery is a lumpectomy or mastectomy. Mine was a lumpectomy. As you say big cup size bras are not the norm. I found the Marks and Spencer embroidered total support full cup bras were absolutely fine for me. ( Cup Sizes A-K) My breast nurse said I did not need to worry about front fastening or surgical bras. If you are having a mastectomy it may be a different matter.
When I was looking both E bay and Amazon had a few large cup size options also catering for big busts.
Hope all goes well for you. I’m just out at the other side now having just completed my post surgery radiotherapy. So wish you the best for your journey
Hi lovely, I am so happy for you that you are out the other side now and I hope you go and stay in remission for the rest of your life. I’m having a Lumpectomy and I really can’t wait to get it done next Thursday. Thank you for your lovely message
x
Hi lovely, thank you for your lovely message and I hope your journey is coming to an end now and that you will stay well for good. Cancer really changes how you look at life and not to take things for granted. I wish you all the best lovely
x
Wow what a journey you have had lovely, but at least they didn’t keep you waiting which is brilliant. I hope you have a speedy recovery and that one you get there you stay in remission for good. X
100% lovely, and i hope your journey is going well
x
Hiya thanks for that it was a lumpectomy, 10 days post 1st round of chemo, couldnt sleep for 3 nights as my scalp was tender with awful pins and needles, was driving me mental!! So got my oldest son to shave my hair off the relief was unbelievable and actually quite liberating!! X
Oh bless you darling, how brave of you to get your hair shaved off big respect to you. It’s awful what cancer can do to people but omg the respect we have for each other is so heart warming, it’s like we are a big family supporting each other it’s wonderful. I hope your hair grows better than before as a lot of women have said that after Chemotherapy their hair grew back stronger and healthier than before xx
Thank you so much ure messages are making me feel less alone x
We are all in this together darling, we need to support each other as it’s a long hard journey and we can all share our journeys and support each other but I know what you mean about feeling alone lovely
x
I was worried about the surgery but it was an absolute breeze. Felt so well afterwards. I was awful during my 6 sessions of chemo. So again best of luck with yours x
So sorry to read what you’re going through. I pop up on here now and again especially when a situation touches me like yours. I was diagnosed in October 2024 I was 39 with a 3 year old boy it was devastating… But we got through it, I still did everything I wanted to I had grueling chemo but I leaned on any support I could get. We didn’t tell my boy, but he must have known something wasn’t right, he would climb into bed and hold my hand every night.
Well I’m over a year complete and in remission let’s hope it stays that way I’m trying to not let it take up any more of my time! Good luck on your journey and you will be there for your grandchildren and your lovely cats do not worry!xx
Oh my lovely it really melts my heart knowing you are in remission I am so happy for you and knowing your going to be there for you little boy makes me smile with tears in my eyes. It really does breaks my heart when I hear of women going through this and they have young children. I wish you all the best for your long and happy future
xx
