Granocyte injectionss side effects

Hi everyone - new photo! This was me when I got fed up with my hair falling out, I hacked it off, wish it was that long now!!!

I think in my next life I will come back as a man. What with having smears, birth, BC and periods…why would anyone choose to come back as a woman???

Not sure what to do as the weather is so grim.

Am trying to cheer myself up. Have booked two tickets to see Julian Clary in October, how I wish he wasn’t gay, he is so sexy! Might go and see a medium soon too. Might as well see if my Mother wants a chat! She hasn’t up til now and she died in 2005, obviously perving over Barry Manilow or Robbie Williams the night I go to see a medium! Am keeping an eye out to see what other comedians are on. Jo Brand was funny, I liked her alot.

As RADS don’t start until the 18th, hubby fancies a few days away just the two of us before my birthday, so may poodle off to Bournemouth. It’s my 40th on the 10th Aug, but I am postponing it for a year! So I will be 39 agin this year.

Off out with my best buddy on Friday as its her birthday, I can feel a martini and lemonade moment coming my way! Wine makes me burp, so Martini it is!

Keep in touch ladies…Daisy xxxxxxx

Hello girls,

Barbara, onc wouldnt put me on arimidex as i have had three periods this year. Last one in March. I think they have stopped for good now, chemo really killed em off and good riddance. I am on Tamoxofen. A few SE’s but to be honest getting used to them and they are not bothering me too much.

Daisy, love the photo, very chic, very Posh Spice LOL. you should get away, 40th big one, cant remember what i did on mine, oh yes i had a fairly new baby. Last time OH and i went away was to Ascot. We went to the races, had a meal and stayed in a hotel. It was quite nice but there isnt a lot going on in Ascot, i can tell you.

Good to see you up and about Lisa. Anyway, tomorrow i start the dreaded rads. Yes my left dent will be sauteed and fried for next five weeks. Oh joy!!! I am kind of looking forward to it, just want it over and done with.

Anyway, have a good drink on friday, you are making me fancy one. I have an unopened bottle of pimms in the kitchen…

Linda

Hi all,

Sorry to hear about yr gums Lisa, that was the one thing i worried would flare up during chemo and it didnt. I have had gum trouble for years and lost a tooth (the week i discovered my lump) last year.
Funnily enough they have been fine and I didnt even get any mouth problems.

I am still a redface two months after although that could be the tamoxofen. When the rads ladies were going through drill with me, they said “Dont drink too much Alcohol” and i am sure they were looking at my red gob. Wouldnt mind, but I hardly touch a drop nowadays. Remember to ask for lanzaprazole for yr heartburn, nothing works like it. I have that green stuff but i have yet to perfect putting the right amount on. I might try some fake tan this week to tone it down.

Would love to come for a coffee, if any of u are down my way Essex/london border, u are welcome to a cup.

All the best
Linda

Hi Ladies

You will be so proud of me! Friday night I went out to celebrate my mates birthday. Well, I fell into bed at 4.30a.m - what a lush!

Went to a pub, then onto a club! I was only on tonic water and camera duty, but I had a scream watching the clubbers. At 39 I think i may have been the youngest in there! Some of the ‘ladies’ had clothes on that I would have worn 20 years ago, lots of fake bling to match their tango tans, leopard print tops, thigh length boots - they were a sight! I haven’t laughed so much in ages. I only managed a few dances, then hopped back up on my bar stool to people watch.

Then went out for a pizza last night and I am pleased to say my appetite is back! I ate like a piggy.

3 weeks post chemo and I am still red cheeked, and my skin is very dry. If one more peson says ‘you look well’ I will scream or nut them.

Started Tamoxifen on Friday, nothing nasty so far.

Sorry to hear you are poorly Lisa, keep going, I know it’s seems like you will never feel tickety-boo, but I promise…you will! Don’t suffer with heartburn, get something for it, or try the gripe water, it worked for me.

I think I will make an effort and get dressed now, (10.30), sort lunch and text my bingo buddy. I feel a little gamble coming on! Child benefit went in today and it would be rude not to put it to good use! ha ha

New (well old) photo - me and hubby. We had just got back from my Dads in Gran Canaria and look tangoed!

Love to you all.

Daisy xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Go girl friend , good to know theres good times to come after chemo cant wait for a late night out , spent last two days in bed reading and sleeping .
I agree with the you look good comment yet to nut anyone !!!
Enjoy the time of work make most of it ,
Im thinking of not going back till after Xmas as I seem to have had so much crap with it just have to see if we can afford it .
Speak soon may pop and see dentist again and see what he says second week on antibiotics and still got tooth ache oh well …
Lisa x

hello girls,

I get given the ‘u look good’ comment so often. I think the red face equates with suntan equates with healthy. We would usually say you look well to someone who has a bit of colour being it red or brown. Thats my theory anyway. My skin is also dry 7 weeks after. I find exfoliating then moisturising it makes it better for a while.

Which club did you go to Daisy? Well done, late night and no drinkies. Wow!!!

Had third rads today, no SE’s so far. Long may it stay that way…
I am going to go out on my bike now. You cant lose weight on rads but my son put me on tv from video camera, dancing on holiday, talk about a beached whale, i am lardo supreme. So i am going to have to
something. Trouble is, since the taste buds came back so did the food binging. I really want to lose weight and the fat produces oestrogen so good reason to get it off.

I am getting used to tamoxofen Daisy. Worse thing is bone ache when you move. I take it at night now so that i sleep when its worst. Only other thing is the bowel is a bit sluggish, I am eating lots of veg and fruit to compensate. I did break out in teenage spots when i started it, but they have gone and not come back.

I will be back at work beginning of September Lisa when school starts. I intend to do full time and feel fit enough now. I am hoping rads dont take too much out of me but two doctors said to me that if you take the chemo i have had, rads is a walk in the park. i am taking them at their word.

Anyway take care. Hope you are well Barbara.

Linda

Hi ladies

I took my first Tamoxifen on Friday and by the evening (not helped by clubbing!) I had swollen ankles. They ease up a bit when I sit, then they swell again once I am mobile.

Also, I feel full up all the time. Not hungry at all and it feels like I have eaten something that is taking forever to ‘go down’ if you get what I mean. Early days yet so I will have to be patient and see how it goes.

Linda- so pleased RADS are going well, long may it continue.

Back to the sofa I go…nearly time for Trisha!

Love to all…Daisy xx

Ladies just off to dentist in mo with sis in law hope he will take it out but its a big one !!!Hospital have given me all my bloods from yesterday and seem ok so fingers crossed ( why am I saying that hate dentist more than chemo …)

Barab hope your ok Know you were having it rough last time so hope ok
Pain killers working at mo Long may it continue…
Well Ive your not on your bikes and watch day time tv at 12 think of me with my toes curling in the DENTIST CHAIR …
Lisa

Hiya all,

Well Daisy, it was like that for me when i started tamoxofen, ankles and legs were swollen. I also broke out in zits, hope you dont.

Hope the dentist went well Lisa. Re drugs for future, it depends on your hormone receptors, if you were hormone positive you will probably get tamoxofen but if you were her+ i think you will get herceptin. (I am not an expert here though)

Rads so far for me have been fine, no se’s yet whatsoever, long may it continue but i know its early days yet.

All the best girls

Linda

YES no side effect we like that !!!
Tooth out dentist said xray looked fine so it was up to me ( wisdome as well how brave am I )if I wanted it out he would do it ,he thought it was sinuses Great !!! anyway its out so fingers crossed will get doc to check sinuses 2 morro there checking my blood because of tooth comin out so cant really complain apart from having to go there every othere day …

Got reffered to loacal lymp clinic about arm bc nurse very uncaring said theres was nothing else she could do ( refer me then )
The only one out of them I clash with but you cant get on with everyone .
had great tea just me and hubby kids away and friend cooked for us and its her bday today Bless …
Ive got some many favours 2 repay when Im better …
There will be no time for work
Oh sorry to start again but they run today , asked If I was still managing to get out and about is that between the docs dentist and hospital …I ask you Im sure they think Im having a pincnic …WE WISH

Hi Lisa

Not a lot really you can ask except how many you will be having! I bought some Acqueous cream, about £3, I got mine in ASDA. Slap it on before RADS start, thats what all my girlies said. It has worked wonders on my feet!

If you are being marked up on Monday, be prepared to feel like a piece of meat. Lots of measuring, and talking over you, but nothing scary and nothing to worry about at all.

I have a sore throat, I don’t feel unwell, but it is getting on my nerves. Had a dodgy day Tuesday where I had achy bones and felt rough, so stayed in bed. Not sure if that is down to Tamoxifen or I was coming down with something.

Got to go, back to Jeremy Kyle…DNA results await…

Daisy xxxx

Hi ya girls

They are all repeats of old JK’s - you can tell i have been on sick leave for seven months cant yu? Car crash telly, cant beat it…

I am using aqueous cream to wash with - they give you some free at rads when you start but as Daisy says you can get it really cheap anywhere. I have also bought a cream over internet from Penny Brohn Cancer centre in Bristol. It is called radiance cream and have seen a few good reports in various places. i have had six rads now and they are using the bolus (a bag which intensifies treatment) and my skin still looking good, and apart from feeling very slightly tight, i have no discomfort so it looks like its doing its stuff.

I have a dry throat at moment, might be the rads though. My bones ache from tamoxofen but i have got used to it and it doesnt bother me much. Do creak a bit when i get up but otherwise not a huge deal.

Anyway i would like to say enjoy the sun but we BC girls have to avoid it at the moment.

All the best
Linda

Hi all - went out for a birthday lunch today with 10 mates, mixture of work and other buddies, it was great. I even sat with a naked head in the restaurant as I was soooooooooo hot. No one said anything, a few odd looks from other diners, but I don’t care.

My birthday is Monday, and we are off to Chessington. I got a letter from my GP saying I can’t queue or stand for long periods, so I can get a special wristband, wheelchair and queue jump! - BLINDING!!! I don’t ‘do’ waiting as you ladies know!

Hubby got me a laptop which I am now using. I have got to learn to be delicate and use the pad thingy rather than a mouse, which is testing my patience.

Looks like it will be a nice weekend, so time to get in the graden under the brolly with my new Julian Clary novel, some tonic water, MP3 and escape into my own little world, inhaling all the delicious BBQ smells.

Hope you are all fighting fit or are at least on the up and up.

I am ashamed to say that I have given in and am currently watching Big Brother…oh the shame…Bea or Lisa to go!

lOOK AFTER YOURSELVES…Daisy xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hi all,

Oh big one tomorrow Daisy. Enjoy Chessington and it looks like the weather is going to hold out for you.

I havent watched big brother for a few years now. The people just got worse and more outrageous and i couldnt be bothered with it.

Skin is still ok, the cream i am using is doing its stuff. Hospital think it is brilliant. Are your hands and feet still tingling from taxotere? I still have the tingle two months after and apparently you can keep this particularly side effect for life. Oh Joy!!!
I have lost a few nails recently both on toes and hands but fortunately there was a nail underneath and it didnt hurt. Nails on feet look fine (had a pedicure the other day) but hands look grim. Nails are ridged, discoloured and some of them look like they have been bitten to the quick. They will grow though. Hair on head is gathering speed now and growing really quickly. White grey with patches of brown. Cant wait to take the nice and easy to it but need to wait a bit longer.

Lisa and Barbara, hope you are both well and not suffering too much in heat.

All the best
Linda

Yoo-hoo

Well, after experiencing wheelchair rage at Chessington, I can recommend sitting in a wheelchair if you ever want to be invisible for a period of time! Talk about people cutting me up, refusing to budge or walking/stopping dead in front. Having large feet (size 8), I plonked them as far out as I could on the foot rests and caught so many people’s calf muscles, I had a ball. When people apologised, which they did I think out of embaressment, I sarcastically said ‘oh no, it’s all my fault, I should have got out of YOUR way!!’…we were in fits of laughter. Bloody, rude, people.

Apart from that, it was great. Lots of queue jumping, and it was nice to spend the day together somewhere that isn’t owned by the NHS!

My living room looks like Clinton Cards and a florists. My house smells beautiful, I live in ‘lily-land.’

All good with me I am pleased to say, and I am so hungry all the time! My weight from pre-cancer to now has gone up by only 4lb, so I am happy about that. No nasties with Tamoxifen still.

Hope everyone is well and improving all the time.

Lots of love… Daisy xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hello Daisy,

Happy belated birthday and glad u had fun at Chessington. Reminds me of what i saw once. There was a queue for tickets at a station and a blind man was in front of me. I watched him feel the person in front of him and then whack them with his stick. They turned around ready to start a fight and then saw it was a blind man and just turned around again. I was gobsmacked!!! It was so deliberate (and funny).

I havent put any weight on from pre cancer although i was/am a lardarse to start with. Reason being, lost some with taxotere taste issues and putting some back on now with tamoxofen hunger issues. I am really trying to cut down on food but around 5.00 my head gets stuck in the trough.

I am feeling better every day, even with rads which have affected me very little so far.

Lisa/Barbara, hope you are well.

All the beswt
Linda

Daisy happy bilated bday
just had third visit with nhs

I have been really ill neutropinic on last cycle with infection from where tooth was taken ,
had to have barrier nurseing in side room and no visitors as was so ill any way home now and still feel crap so o f to bed and try not to
be readmitted …
Be in touch soon Lisa

Hiya all,

So sorry to hear you were ill again Lisa. Lets hope you pick up soon. If you lived near i would definitely pop round with some chicken soup (heinz of course LOL).

Went to school yesterday and started arranging my classroom and put up name labels etc. It feels real that i will be going back in a few weeks.

Off to rads for 1.15 today. The times are a bit of a nuisance although i shouldnt complain. All seem to be around midday which means my kids are not getting to do a great deal in their hols.
I have some earlier ones next week but have more prep to do in school. Still we will be going up to Derbyshire to see their grandparents in a couple of weeks where my inlaws will spoil them rotten and i have said i will try to take them to Southend for a day. The highlight of their week at moment is tennis school on Wednesdays which they are already bored with.

Oh well, going to do a bit of housework, just a tad or two to make me feel virtuous.

All the best
Linda
