I was in the same situation for four years. I had a lump that was biopsied - fibroadenoma - and we were watching it, and it was growing. It also seemed like I came down with a new lump every six months. Three lumps in total, in my right breast. They wanted to keep biopsying the rest, but I said no. I was in denial about all of it.
Then I discovered a thyroid problem. That is a whole other story. But as a result, we discovered I had digestive issues (very common in thyroid patients), and was not absorbing vitamins well. I got very very sick. It took getting very sick before anyone diagnosed me. I ended up with megaloblastic anemia, from being chronically low in b-vitamins, even though I was taking a multivitamin. Even getting the anemia diagnosis took four different doctors.
After a few months of taking VERY high doses of b-vitamins and avoiding tea, coffee and sushi, sugar and alcohol, because these all deplete b-vitamins, I started getting better. I was hesitant to take a lot of B6, because of some scary stories I read online about toxicity. I eventually got so low in B6 I had some serious symptoms. So I finally decided to go with a lot of B6, and slowly built up to 250mg of B6 a day.
Well, something INCREDIBLE happened during the first month of taking a lot of B6. My right breast felt sore and hot right where the largest lump was. This happened around the time I was probably ovulating. It was sore for a few days, and when it went away, the lump went away with it.
ALL three lumps went completely away. I am now lump free for the first time in four years! I believe without a doubt that it was my low B6 levels which caused the lumps. Birth control, allergy medication, anti-inflammatories, and many more medications can lower your B6. And after reading up on it, B6 levels are closely associated with breast cancer. The higher your B6, the lower your risk.
B6 is responsible for moderating estrogen and prolactin levels, and for getting iodine into the glands, including the thyroid and the breast. Thyroid and breast cancers are highly correlated. If you have one, you are more likely to have the other. I believe it’s because of B6 and iodine which both thyroid and breast tissue need.
I hope my experience will help others. I remember coming to the forums when I first had my biopsy scheduled and I read a lot of scary stories. So I wanted to come share my positive story, and show that sometimes things do get better.
