GUTTED

Hi all you lovely brave people.

my 46 year old sister was diagnosed with BC aug 09 with secondaries to the lung and bone…started her chemo which finished in dec and til 3 weeks ago she was doing so well. she started to feel unwell again and off her food, tired and generally felt like crap. we were due scan results and feared the worse…the scan actually came back all OK and the disease so we were told had no significant change but her tumor markers were up. she actually went down hill over the last week or so and was admitted into hospital with a suspected chest infection…which turned out to be a infection they could not find. we went to see her ONC today and has said the reason she feels like this is because the cancer has got worse on the lungs…we are very confused as to why we were not told this the other week and that they thought it was a chest infection…we are just putting that mistake down to a new dr who I certainly do not want to see again! The fact is she now has to undergo more chemo…starting a week monday for 3 mondays in a row with one off…this will go on for 6 months…we are sooo gutted that this is happening again let alone so quick…we thought we might have to do this again but not so soon…she will now be tried on TAXO sorry something like that…not taxotere…can’t think of the spelling…has anyone every experience having to go through a second round of chemo so quick? I should be grateful that there are more things they can try but I feel like I am loosing my sister again…

Hi Jobelle… I am so sorry to hear this… Also I cannot advise you on this matter but hopefully bump you up to someone who can…
I would like to say though my thoughts and prayers each night will be for your sister…

Jobelle,

Hi, sorry to hear the news about your sister. 3 mondays then 1 week off sounds like taxol. I had this before, worked every well for me.

I have bone and liver secondaries. Bone were diagnosed first, finished chemo (taxol or paclitaxel) in Dec, 09. Everything was going well, switched to Tamoxfin. That didn’t work at all. Sent for “urgent” scans and discovered liver secondaries in April, 10. (That was only a 4 months gap!! The nurses couldn’t believe I was back at the clinic and connected up to the drip again.) Finished another chemo (FEC) in Aug. Now having rads (last week next week). (click on my name to see profile for details).

So, unfortunately, yes, this nasty illness can come back pretty quickly. When that happened to me, I didn’t really want to go back on chemo again and I was devasted. But hey, chemo did a brilliant job and both bone and liver are stable at the mo. And long may that continue!

Hope taxol work for your sister and any questions, ask away.

Take care xx
