Hair falling out - had to start the horrible process

maz, thinking of u hun alex xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Big hug honeybee xx
It honestly does feel better when it’s gone.

Maz, you just have a bloomin’ big cry, sob your heart out if you need to. And then blow your nose, wipe your eyes and paste the smile back on. Sometimes we need to let it all go If anyone on here were to say they hadn’t had a wobble, I’d call them a liar.

You might never get used to it , I can’t , but I can live with it and forget about it. I still wonder who the hell is looking at me in the mirror. Tis true, it’s bette when it’s gone.

Try and go to LGFB. It’s really worth it to see others who are coping with their new look and getting bit of pampering. Loads of free goodies too and the social side is a bonus. You get a good concealer in the goody bag so no more bags under eyes. It’s the one thing I’d recommend even if you’re a no make-up kind of girl, to use concealer. I’ve never used it before and it makes a huge difference.

Ninja, you need a tattoo on your head to finish the look. No one’s going to mess with you girl. Think you can get some stick on jobbies, not really suggestin Maori style. No offence intended to any Maoris.

Ha ha, Hips. I have considered a henna tatt but scalp still a bit itchy and flaky so not sure if it would be suitable.

I still shock myself when I walk past a mirror and see Bald Me.

Maz, I wear glasses, so at least I can still see, and that’s the bit of me that still looks like the old me.

It’s not fun, it’s not nice, but if it’s any consolation I was shocked at just how fast it grows back. I saw someone a month ago who just had a bit of bum-fluff on her head after chemo, but just four weeks later she’s got a great head of hair! Yeah, it’s short, but it’s a proper haircut! (Can’t wait, meself!)

Hmmm-henna tattoo sounds like fun. CM that’s really encouraging to hear how quickly hair grows back. I hope mine does too-it does grow quickly normally so fingers crossed. My hair was long, dark ringlets before chemo so am hoping it will buck the trend and come back straighter, but the nurses say they’ve never seen anyone’s come back straighter!!

well last night was the last straw i have now got very short hair (daughter wouldnt shave it but has cut it very short ) still hurts first thing and itches like mad but its not falling out as fast well i carnt see it . everyone keeps saying i look 10 yrs younger even oh has said he likes it too and seeing as for the past 18 yrs he wouldnt let me cut it short its good to know he likes it now i didnt have a choice 2nd chemo friday so it will most likly be all gone with in 2 weeks meet a lady at hosptial the other day who had a fab wig didnt even know it was a wig untill she said she was on her 3 chemo so when i got out yesterday(been in since thrusday night ) i went looking to find it and i have now just order a very short wig almost the same so thats how my daughter cut my hair to match wig let hope it comes and fits well before it all gone

Hi Maz

I bet you look fab with short hair. Well done you! It’s a big step for all of us. My wig is really good it’s just not as comfy as my hats, but I will wear it for some occasions I think.
Lots of love

Well done - I felt so much better when I’d got rid of mine.

It’ll be four weeks on Wednesday since my final Tax and the hair on my head is growing quickly. Too soon to tell if it’s even curlier than before or not though.

No sign of any sprouts anywhere else - I’d dearly love some eyebrows! Despite a LGFB session I still look like Joan Crawford if I draw them on.

if it can take up to 14 days for yr hair to come out on your head how long for the rest of the body ??? lady garden not included that went first lol saves me the trouble tho

The hair on my head is still hanging on there even though it’s just stubble since I clippered it off!! I have no hair under my arms though-it’s just stopped growing. I have spots on my head which are really sore and making it difficult to wear anything comfortably on my head. Going round commando at home but wouldn’t want to go out red, spotty and bald!

rachel my head is the same didnt realise how much your hair kept your head warm tho lol it was cold last night ended up with a bad cold head

Hi girls

Im joining your club! Got my head shaved on Monday, eeek! Can just about handle that but…eyelashes and eyebrows please stay attached to my face, i need you!! LOL

I talk to my eyebrows in an attempt to persuade them to stay around. They’re still hanging on in there at the mo but the nurses say they will go eventually. I’m hoping they’re wrong.

For those folk who are going through this stage now. </bump>

I found this thread essential to get me through the process of hair starting to fall out, right through to getting the clippers out.
