Hair growth???

Hi All,

I’m 8 days post FEC 1.

Really not as bad as I thought - i have actually had worse hangovers (admittedly didn’t last 3/4 days but still felt worse)

Silly question really, but as I understand it, chemo stops new cells growing…so why oh why is my hair growing as if nothing has happened! very annoying, I didn’t re-stock my razor pile expecting at least a slowing down of growth actually in hope of no growth at all!!! should I be counting my blessings???

Hi TLB

My hair started to fall out about 2 weeks after first chemo. BUT have had to shave legs all the way through Not Impressed never stopped growing on legs but fell out everywhere else!!!

Same with me. It was the lady garden that was the first to start disappearing.

I used the cold caps for the first 3 chemo (i’m on 3 fec + 3 tax) and, while it didn’t stop my hair falling out, it slowed it enough that I think that it gave me an extra month or so where the hair loss wasn’t noticable unless you knew.

Got my last chemo this coming Tues and head hair now very sparse (it is cut v short, but I never shaved it) but still enough to ‘soften the edges’. Haven’t had to shave my arm pits in weeks, but had to shave my legs yesterday! Eyelashes and eyebrows only started thinning when I started Tax - still have some, but v thin.

It’s obviously the hot bits withh a good blood supply that go first!

My hair started falling out 10 days after 1st FEC, cut it all off a few days before 2nd chemo. Did not try cold cap and hair now back to 1 inch all over having finished chemo mid February. Good luck everyone. J.
