Hair loss

Hi

I was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer in March. I had 12 weeks of Taxol and 4 weeks of EC treatment which finished mid October. Last week I had surgery (wide local excision and lymph node clearance). I used the cold cap during chemo sessions and kept a lot of my hair. I was over the moon. It is now 5 weeks since I finished chemo and my hair is thinner than ever. I thought after chemo was finished I wouldn’t continue to lose it. I am devastated, it looks so awful. I don’t really want to look at myself in the mirror and certainly don’t want to go out. I have a wig, hats and scarves and I just don’t feel right wearing them. I feel so self conscious. How long does hair loss continue after chemo?

hi

I am so sorry to hear about your hair loss, it was truly so hard for me too.I kept loosing some hair about a month after chemo  and i was told to use biotin , b vitamins and zinc / calcium/ magnesium, also vit d.

now good news is with a cold cap hair usually grows back very healthy and pretty quick according to the nurses. in my experience that also seems to be true- my hair is recovering very quickly and i stopped using my wig, when going out…

maybe a good idea to have  a quick chat with cancer charity:

please look after yourself! x
