Jo any refer back for test hits like a bombshell. Hopefully they are just being ultra careful
During this last week the area that was zapped by rads and the area under that arm has gradually become more swollen and firm to touch. I spoke to the BCN who asked me to go in and see her today. To be honest I thought she was about to say it could be Lymphoedema but when I got there I saw her and one of the radiographers from St Thomas’s who just happen to be on site today(My rads were done at St Thomas’ not locally)To my horror they both took one look, said it is very swollen, doesn’t look like Lymphoedema, or the result of rads and referred me back to the Surgeon. Bear in mind that my BC is the inflammatory kind. They were making all the right noises i.e. Don’t worry, it could just be inflammed because you have been overdoing things or it could be an infection. My appointment is next Wednesday - they made it immediately. Like Jo I am now in an absolute tizz!
We are due to go on holiday the following week for 10 days but obviously am now wondering if we will have to cancel especially if they also want scans done.
I will catch up with everyone later when I have had time to calm down a bit.
Ohh Andie,
hope to god it’s nothing to worry about.
Just think it could be from your surgery still, the swelling I had in my arm pit has only just gone down (6 months later) and they said it would have been blood that had collected from the biopsy I had.
So is it possible it could be blood?? (mine never showed right away).
For some reason my big toe has been hurting on inspection it has got a bruise under it,(I haven’t banged it).
I am quite tired today (only slept 8 hours last night!)
We had liver & onions for dinner I’m not really keen on the liver but I do like the gravy.
Suzanne where are you on your chemo now?
Hope everyone is ok?
Steve has been writing messages but for some reason they are not posting them? (he’s wrote to them now).
love Caron x
Andie, Jo and Gail - I am thinking of you all with your scans due, and sending as many good thoughts as I can for the best possible outcomes. I am beginning to think that our lives, for a while at least, will be punctuated with trips to our oncs and periodic scans, and we will only feel able to relax when we pass certain milestones.
In the normal run of things we’d probably be ignoring the symptoms … backache, dizziness etc … and they would pass off after a while without event. But now it seems we only have to sneeze and we are whipped in for a scan. Good of course as we would always want to know at the earliest time about abnormalities so that they can be treated quickly. But it does take some getting used to - this new health dominated life where we have all become ultra vigilant. I am just the same simply watching, waiting and expecting…
I went to work again today, making it four days out of five this week. Too much really. I am on leave next week though, in fact we set off for Hereford tomorrow - and looking forward to visiting Ross on Wye and Monmouth in particular. Also bought a netbook and dongle today - to avoid taking heavier laptop with me as useful to have access to the web for local info about weather and places to visit.
Have a good weekend if you can, though I know how difficult it will be. Congrats Suzanne on reaching the halfway point. A good achievement.
You may already realise this now but after a while the sytem times you out, some users prefer to type the post into a word document first and then cut and paste it onto the site, hope this helps, I know how annoying it can be!
I knew this lad cos my sis was married to his uncle, they are divorced now.
Unfortunatley this lad went around in a gang and was always in trouble, maybe it will stop his mates terrorising people ?? and stop carrying knives?.
I mean what do these kids do when they are going out? wallet check watch check phone check big bloody knife check!!!
I will write later as got to go out get my dad summats.

I thought my energy levels were back to normal but today I have been to a Patchwork and Quilting exhibition with one of my daughters and have realised that either I am not as recovered as I thought or I am just feeling my age!! It was really good though and I have come home inspired.
Andie,
I wonder if it is you been that ill with chemo etc and you thought your energy was back to normal, but really it isn’t??
I made shish lamb kebabs last night and we watched a film calle the eye it wasn’t much cop really.
When I was slicing the cabbage (for kebab) I nearly sliced the end of my finger off! Steve wanted me to go to hospital but I got some steri strips, good job I haven’t had my surgery yet.
We went shopping all yesterday afternoon it was good to be out but I don’t like the stares from pll (I just ignore them).
Since starting my water tablets I have lost 1/2 stone!! (did I already say?).Just got to lost the other stone & half now!.
write later got to go see dad now ( I bought him a bumble bee house to encourage bumble bees to nest in there).

I am currently away for the week in Hereford - and can hardly stay awake tonight after a full day out sightseeing in the area including the historic black and white market town of Ledbury. I will write more on my return, but just wanted to wish everyone good luck and good thoughts with appointments and scans this week.

My mam is getting me some cream that I have to rub on my arm daily!and I also have some foam wash to put on my breast (do you think this is so you don’t get MRSA??).
Love Caronxx
Andie, sorry to hear you,ve got referal as well, hope it’s ok and I know exactly how you’ll be feeling right now, just like me, TERRIFIED!!!Was the patchwork quilt exhibition at Sandown Park by the way, drove past it last night!
Bright, hope you’re having a lovely time away and managing to rest a bit to!
Caron, there, part 1, pre op tests over and done with! You’ll be out the other side of surgery before you know it!
Well, had my Onc appointment this morning. Feel worse than i did before really. She thinks dizzyness is not the tomoxafin, but not sure what’s causing it so has asked for an urgent referal and I have a brain scan booked for 9:40 Wed morning. Same day as you I think Andie, so lets pray for each other!!!
Jo and Andie,
A worrying time for you both.I am thinking and praying for you.
Sorry for such a short post, but have not been so good myself. I’ve been sleeping a lot so have not been on here much.
Everyone… be kind to yourselves,
love Kathy
Jo Yes we went to Sandown Park, It’s the National Quilt competition and Exhibition. There really are some very clever people out there.
There is no point in telling you not to worry about Wednesday. For once I can say I know exactly how you feel. My appointment with the surgeon is at 4.30 in the afternoon. I know how that particular clinic runs and I will be lucky to be seen before 6, so any appointments that need to be made in other departments will have to wait until thursday.
Caron you will be absolutely fine, and home again before you know.
Kathy sorry that you are struggling a bit at the moment. Rest as much as you can.
Bright You always manage to find some really interesting places to visit when you go away for a break. Enjoy.
Gail When is your next appointment?
I intend settling back in front of the tennis now until it is time to start cooking. My daughter and I have tickets for next tuesday on the new No.2 court. The day before we are due to go away.
Just a short post JO & ANDIE will be thinking of you both on Wednesday I hope you catch my good thoughts?
Will be thinking of Gail too (if only I knew when her appointment is!)
Katemate get plenty of rest if you need it.
I know Victoria is thinking of us all (spoke on phone).
The nurse said RADS can make you really really tired, wonder if it will be as tiring as taxotere?? (god I hope not).
Susanna will be starting taxotere soon , dont worry you might not be as tired as I was? and sleeping never killed anyone (only if you don’t wake up to eat & drink ! lol)
Eating and sleeping are my two favourite activities, next to sitting in the garden watching my roses grow! When we were starting to get ready to sell the house, Mr.Grumpy got a bit over-enhtusiastic with the chucking out, and smashed up the old settees! So for about three months we only had armchairs to sit on. It was such a releif when the new settees arrived, late May - perfick for sprawling on.
