I was diagnosed with TNBC last September and am currently having chemo. After four sessions of EC I have now switched to Taxotere, just had my second one and two more to go.
I lost all my hair after my first session of EC, did try the cold cap but unfortunately it didn’t work. The third week after my first Taxotere session I noticed a fine fuzz on my head and it seems to be growing very very slowly which I am hoping will continue as I wasn’t expecting to see any regrowth until a good couple of months after my chemo finishes.
Just wondered if anyone else had a similar experience with hair growth using Taxotere as eveything I have read about the drug says it causes hair loss?
I had EC in 2009 which resulted in total hair loss which all grew back well within a few months. I have been having Taxotere from Sep 11 until Jan 12 and I have to say that whilst I still looked pretty bald, there was still a very fine fuzz remaining throughout my treatment. I have now been off Tax for six weeks and have a definite full covering of fuzz - all grey! - but it seems to be returning much faster than after the EC. So there seems to be a case that EC does cause more dramatic loss than Tax, although this may not be the case for everyone.
Going on holiday in six weeks time, so hoping that there will be enough hair by then to go wigless/hatless
Had my last of 3 TAX on 18th Nov. I also noticed a fine fuzz starting to come through from the start of TAX but it was still coming out if I pulled it (so don’t pull it - Doh!)
I now have a full covering of soft grey hair. It’s very short but enough to ditch the wig last week.
‘Downstairs’ (as we ladies say!)is back and I may have to shave my legs soon. Unfortunately brows and lashes are taking their time…
Same here - after my first EC chemo my hair fell out (over one weekend!). I had four EC sessions in total. Then moved to four taxatere sessions - and in the third week after the first tax session my hair started growing. It was so exciting! Just a little down covering at first. While I was doing taxatere it grew very slowly, and in my case the grey hairs appeared first, or in fact they looked a little translucent :-). Now its a year after my last taxatere and my hair is back to it’s normal colour (not quite so grey), but so much more curlier. I like it
I had my first haircut 5 months after finishing chemo - the hairdresser even gave me a discount as really there was not very much to cut, she was just making it less patchy in length, but I felt so good afterwards (a bit like a baby having their first haircut too!).
I had x4 FEC chemo which took my hair out about 14 days after i started. My hair started to regrow during the period of my last FEC, im now on my second taxotere and its still growin albeit very slowly.
Hi, I had 6 x tax 4 yrs ago. My hair came out but then produced a fuzzy growth which never increased or decreased over 5 treatments. It also took ages to properly grow back. With FEC (4 yrs before the tax, it all fell out and stayed out but then grew back quickly!
Hi,
My hair started to re-grow during the last 2 sessions of tax (I did 1 x FEC/5 x taxotere finished in july 2011) initially I remember it worried me that my hair was growing back before the chemo’s had finished but after speaking to quite a few other ladies realized that this was quite a normal occurrence so please don’t worry this is very normal.
Hope this helps

Like Lesley iv just finished six cycles of tax and although not all my hair fell out I was still pretty bald but now have about 2mm of fluff since my last chemo which I only finished two weeks ago.
They have put my mind at rest that the hair growth is usual and hopefully should continue. It has been such a boost to see it growing as I feel like I am slowly on the way to getting back to me again and there is in a end in sight.
