I started dexamethasone in the middle of july 07 to help with my breathing which it has done magnificantly. However, what I thought was my cheekbones returning due to the dark shadows, is actually thick, dark facial hair - I could compete with my hubby now as it is also making me grow a moustache!!
Feel very guilty as I know so many of you are struggling to come to terms with losing your hair. I’ve lost my hair twice now and know that in the future, further chemos will also make me lose my hair so I do understand.
I’ve always been a very low maintenance woman so have never been into a beauty parlour so don’t know whether to go in there and hope I literally don’t get ripped off or try shaving or something like veet/
I know some women have naturally dark hair on faces which they do something with but am so ignorant about beauty products.
Any help appreciated - even if you think this is something I should have known when I was 14!!!

ps want to look good as renewing wedding vows in 4 weeks and don’t want pictures of a hairy me - the puffed up face is enough to contend with!!
Hi DippyKate
I hope someone can answer this post as I too have hair growing although mine is blonde it is still very noticable especially on the jawline adjacent to ears and upperlip, not sure it is from the steriods or menopausal symptom…I was going to ask the doctor…

hi dippy/kate and lucy glad to read your posts as I also have facial hair following chemo thought it was just me so heres hoping someone has the answer to this, love chris
Hi i have noticed some fine white hair that i am sure was not on the sides of my face before bc, i am very dark haired, so am glad this is white, but i have not had chemo, but have had tamoxifen and now zoladex, i’m thinking mine is due to menopausal symptoms, but like Kate, i don’t even wear make-up so wouldn’t know what to do if it got worse!

I too had a problem with facial hair and have had chemo and am now on Tamoxifen and Zoladex. I put it down to the Tamoxifen and lack of eostregen etc. The hair on my face was fair but it showed quite a lot especially when I put powder on.
I did wax it with special facial wax strips but found that my skin was a bit sensitive to them and it left it a bit bumpy even though it removed the hair. Then I tried that sand paper disc thing but just ended up with a grazed face (very attractive and brought more attention to that area…). Then decided that if I went to a salon it would cost a fortune as would have to be done every few weeks so I decided to invest in an Epilady. I bought the Braun Silk-epil. There are 2 sorts the one I needed was the more expensive one as it had a special facial attachment. I think there is another new one out which can also be used on the face but not sure. People say it is painful but I find it OK…especially after the first time when most of the hair is just re growth. I like it because I can do it as and when.
Hope the above helps and glad I am not the only one with this problem…
Love
Jetty
