Hi. Bit of a strange one this, but is there anyone else who is having chemo who suffers from hallucinations. Sometimes as I am drifting off to sleep, I feel as though someone or something is dragging me or I can be in a very deep sleep and then I am screaming in my head to wake up. I feel as though I am awake and can see my surroundings but I can’t move and I am fighting to wake up or I can see my hubby and I am begging him to help me to move…I said it was a strange one but very very real and very very scary. HELP am I going completely mad!!!
Apart from that oddity, I hope my new friends are coping well.
I have been good and kept myself in relative isolation while I have had an infection and on antibiotics and guess what - dear hubby has a really bad throat and cough … scream…
Love Pauline (mommyw)
I haven’t had that on chemo, but it messes with everything, and my brain is still not what it was 6mths after end of chemo. I’d mention it to your bcn to see if she can suggest anything to help.
Good Luck

Hi Pauline I certainly had very odd dreams on chemo but the nearest to what you have experienced was constantly hearing an old fashioned telephone ringing really loudly!I still hear it occasionally when I am falling asleep.
Yes, I had one experience of hallucinating during the first round of chemo. It was when I was trying to sleep in bed, I saw my bedroom door open, I thought the cat had nudged it but when she didnt climb onto the bed I got up and found tht all 3 of them were asleep in another room!!

Yes, I hallucinated very badly during my first round of FEC, but it wasnt the chemo, it was the metaclopramide anti sickness that caused it for me, once I stopped those it didnt happen again. It was really scary and as you say, you are completely aware of the hallucination but cant move or do anything.Hang in there

No hallucinations (yet!), but I’ve certainly experienced some very bizarre dreams since starting on chemo (FEC-T resgime).
As someone else has said, these drugs affect the whole body and so the workings of the unconscious mind will probably be subject to changes in some of us.

Hi,
No hallucinations as such but the weirdest dreams on FEC - I cant remember them now but i know they bore no relation to my life. It was like my mind created a new one for me.
I havent had any with Taxotere (lots of other SE’s but not that) so may be the anti-sickness as i dont need them now.,
All the best
Linda
Thank you all so much for your comments re hallucinations. I feel re-assured that I am not alone in this and don’t feel so much of a freak now. I will certainly mention it to the doc when I go next time. Hope you are keeping your ‘peckers’ up. Have a nice weekend. Love to all, Pauline
