Is hard scar tissue normal after surgery? I have a hard lump just under the scar line which is the same place that the cancer lump was. The doctor said it is just my rib, but have offered to send me for a bone scan to see if this is possible bone cancer.
I only had surgery in May, so is it possible it is just scar tissue that will still calm down? I’m worried about having a bone scan with exposure to more radiation unnecessarily

It’s not unusual for the area to feel and look different in the weeks and months after surgery for breast cancer. Scars from surgery can feel lumpy (or have an isolated lump) and it can take up to a while for
everything to settle down to what will eventually be your ‘new normal’. Our information about checking for changes after treatment might be helpful.
Its important to be sure though and your doctor wants to properly assess you. It’s understandable to worry about the radiation but it sounds the benefit of having the bone scan (and hopefully reassuring you) outweighs any risk.
