I had a mastectomy 6 weeks ago and developed a seroma which was drained 4 weeks ago
Its still there but I’ve been told as long as it is soft its ok as it will be absorbed by my body
This morning I found a pea sized lump beneath the skin of the seroma. Its not near the scar.
Im panicking a bit as it about the same place I had the breast cancer
Can cancer appear within the seroma??
I will ring the breast care nurse on Monday so please ( politely) don’t just tell me to seek medical advice
This cancer is the second time I have had it in the same breast hence my mastectomy
Thanks Sue
I think if the seroma is there for a while you can get calcification which leaves little hard lumps underneath the skin beneath the seroma . A lump is not what you want to feel after cancer surgery is it
Thank you Jill. Yes you’re right
I’m trying to be calm and logical
But it’s hard
It’s a shame it’s a weekend as you could possibly have been seen by the BC nurse today to put your mind at rest . I could still feel my “lump” after my lumpectomy I was convinced they hadnt taken it out ! Obviously they had and it was just scar tissue.
Hello Don’t want to freak you out but…
Do insist on ultrasound & biopsy Don’t be fobbed off. I am now on my 3rd diagnosis for triple negative bc since Oct 21. Had lumpectomy chemo radiotherapy for 1st occurrence. Mastectomy & reconstruction for 2nd last year. Found 3rd in scar tissue in armpit confirmed with biopsy Dec 23 & PET Scan identified 15mm tumour in my liver. Taken weeks to get my head round it. Starting Capecitabine this Thursday self advocate & self awareness is key Hope yours is absolutely nothing but check anyway
Thanks Rose, I’ve left a message for the bc nurse to ring me back
Its so horrible this bc isn’t it
I wish you well in your recovery
We just want peace of mind don’t we
Best wishes Sue x
