In the last week I’ve found a hard pea sized lump in the lower part of my armpit. It’s not painful or visible as it’s under the skin. As it’s not on the skin I’m confident it’s not a spot or fatty lump. It feels quite fixed. Now I do have scaring under my arms going unde my beast from an extended arm lift I had a few years ago so would have possibly had internal scaring but I’ve never felt this before. Following this procedure I no longer sweat and have very few hairs as all of this skin was cut away. I’m absolutely PETRIFIED of what this could be. Everything I read says hard painless lumps are cancerous. I have no other irregularities that I can feel. I will ring GP tomorrow morning but advice and reassurance would be welcome please
sorry you find yourself reaching out to bcn but glad you have we’ve got you you are doing the right thing getting it checked assp so be proud of yourself please your heads probably spinning a million miles an hour now till you get things checked do mention this at your appointment and ask if they can prescribe you something to help you please do hold onto the fact you do not have breast cancer till a professional tells you have breast cancer the nurses will respond to you just wanted to send please also do ring the number on here too if you can to speak to a nurse I’m sure others will pop on and reach out to you too share how they dealt with it. When I found my lump I couldn’t believe I’d missed it and then couldn’t stop feeling it and then each morning woke up hoping it had vanished, so if you are the same do be kind to yourself please also keep off doctor Google, you will only go more into orbit easier said than done because I’m sure everyone of us had a disobedient finger that googled away like crazy please let us know how you get on Shi xx
Hi megspoon,
Thank you for posting. It is understandable that you are feeling petrified after finding a lump under your arm. Breast changes including changes in your armpit can happen for many reasons. They may be due injury or scarring from the surgery you mention, due to hormonal changes as part of your monthly cycle (if you are still having periods) or due to benign conditions (not cancer).
It is important that any new changes are assessed, and as you have noticed this new lump, we would suggest you make an appointment with your GP to be assessed so it is good to hear that you are planning to contact your GP today. They can review you and may refer you to the breast clinic for further assessment if they feel it is necessary.
Waiting for appointments can be an anxious time and you may find it helpful to talk through your worries on the phone as @Shi suggests. You can call our helpline if you would like to talk this through or if you have any further questions.
