Hard tiny lump in left breast

In June I discovered a tiny hard lump in my left breast.  I was sat on the sofa and for some reason my hand went into my bra and then I felt it.  Why I did this I do not know!  Went to the doctor and as I had a mammogram booked in July he said use that appointment and he also ordered an ultrasound.  Nothing showed up on the mammogram but they could detect a small area on the ultrasound but not conclusive. It is positioned at 12 O’clock and 5cm from the nipple an measured 10mm.  The radiologist referred me for an MRI.  My GP thought a biopsy would be a quicker result, so he sent me to a Consultant for his advice.  This Consultant said, yes definitely something there, it’s hard and irregular and I view it with suspicion but try not to worry too much,  he ordered a fine needle biopsy,  I went for this biopsy on Thursday,  The radiologist wouldn’t do it as she said nothing on the mammogram, she could feel it and could detect it on the ultrasound but said it’s not clear enough for a Biopsy. She has ordered an MRI with Contrast as she said this procedure would be more sensitive to detect it and see if I required a biopsy or not.  MRI is next Friday.  Anyone else had anything like this and what could it be?  I am 57 and do no children, my Fathers sister had breast cancer and mothers sister had ovarian cancer. Thanks in advance for your replies ?

Hi Peapod,
Many of us have had mris, as sometimes whatever it is doesn’t show up well on other imaging techniques, so it’s right they’re doing this.
It’s not possible to say what it is, but usually it’s not bc related, but if on the off chance it is, then thankfully it can then be dealt with.
Of you want to, let us know how you get on.

Thank you.
