Has anyone bought the tram flap garments?

My breast care nurse recommended the garments from holistic garments?
They are expensive and I wondered how helpful they were. Other people have suggested products from M&S. I’d like to know if they are worth the £70 price. Thanks

I had tram flap 3 years ago - didn’t buy any special garments other than 1 cheap sports bra from tesco, luckily leggings and long loose tops the rage but still went home in my jeans …

what are they suggesting you buy…personally I would put money away for more normal clothes

I had a DIEP recon in July. No one recommend special garments and I have been fine with good supportive, non-underwired bras and inexpensive support knickers. I got mine form M&S (£10, but high cotton content), Matalan (£4 but poor quality) and Bon Marche (£6, but the best in terms of firm support) and nothing was expensive.
As I was quite overweight I tended to wear quite a lot of lower cut necklines to draw attention away from my thick waist and have found that the bigger bras I am wearing show. So for me it made better sense to buy a few new tops with higher necklines that I will continue wearing once I am back into my own undies, rather than spend a lot of money on specialist foundation wear that I would only need for 3 months.
Initially I also found that I had to change frequently as my wound and drains wept and I had wet blisters. So it was better for me to have a few pairs of cheap support knickers that I could throw in the wash rather than something that cost a staggering £70!

Thanks for your comments. Other question did you have to get a bigger size of bra or support knickers?

I am a size 16 and bought regular size 16 support knickers.
I usually wear a 40C bra. On advise of the BCN I bought 42C support bras, but kept the receipts - which was a good thing as I only needed my usual size and was able to send hubby to M&S to change them while I was still in hospital.

Your surgeon will tell you what size sports bra to buy, its called a z bra, the marks and spencer girdle can be purchased from ebay  i bought the same size as normal pants would be.
Another good tip from my ace surgeon is to take arnica tablets two weeks before and two weeks after, highest strength you can find this helps with bruising and heeling. Good luck ! xx

hello,
just got out of hospital and dreading putting my bra back on, but with a 40d chest I can’t get away with walking around not wearing it.Can anyone help? the problem is the under the arm pit. xx

The plastic surgeon told me to buy an abdominal binder wear. I found one in the chemist in London, cant remember the name but it is not far from the Selfridges. It has the velcro and is very easy to put on. After the 6 weeks I changed to the support girdle.

With best wishes
xx

i had DIEP recon 2 weeks ago, i have some support vests/ crop top bras from M&S and from BHS and firm control pants from marks, i was also told about the binder but have not got one , nothing cost more than £10 so don’t go for fancy stuff
