I’m still reeling from shock of being told that the margin with from DCIs was clear ten days ago but that apparently pathologist has now decided it is less than 1mm. What angers me also about this is that the team have known this for a week. I’ve spent four months having to decide on treatments, had four operations and now I’d like to bury my head in the sand but will have to decide what to do.
Thats awful Lily you were so unlucky to have 4 ops my onc likes to have a 5mm margin. when my cancer was picked up through a routine mammory I was told it was such a tiny area of calcification I would prob need one op and no further treatment but how wrong that was here I am 2 ops later and waiting for rads(5wks)also on Arimidex one of my breasts is very much smaller than the other and will get even smaller after rads I dont understand why they missed the amount of calcification as the second time a lot was taken away! its all a mistery but I understand calcifications can not be seen until it is sent to lab so its like them working blind. I will be thinking of you, have you got a date to go back into hospital yet it is horrible waiting I was dx in nov and still waiting for rads I went yesterday thinking I was going to be marked up but it was just a chat and to sign consent form was told it may be another month I coud’nt believe it anyway Lily wishing you all the best take care love Linda x
Hi lentlily
Hope you get sorted out soon. I am lucky that I have a clear margin but I have been back in hospital 2 weeks ago to have 6 of my lymph nodes removed for testing as 8mm of my WLE had invasive ductal cancer which was a grade 3.
Go back for my results on Friday. I have total faith in my consultant so I will do what he thinks is necessary.
Please keep positive and take your time in your decisions.
If i can help you in any way please let me know.
Love Weeannie xx
Thanks for your comments. The oncologist does not advise radiotherapy to deal with small margins so am advised to have more surgery but I think(might change my mind next week)I’ll wait a while as they say there is no hurry.Hope things go well for both of you.
