Has anyone had Lipo with Diep?

Has anyone had Lipo with Diep? I have had a few problems with my Diep Flap, Tissue dying so I have a right (normal) breast of 36 F and my reconstructed breast which is about a 32a very sweet, but not appropriate to my frame. A registrar suggested having lipo fat injected in to make it a little larger then having the other made smaller which I would be happy with. However my consultant says there is nothing that can be done and at least I have a small breast and he can try and make the other symmetrical.

What does anyone else think is it possible? Or could a saline implant help?

Any help would be gratefully appreciated as I feel worse than I did before the reconstruction. I am confused and lost. Especially as Consultant now seems unhappy as I am not going along with his ideas.

Hi Treakle,
So sorry to hear of your problems with the reconstruction. I had an area of my DIEP which failed and had to be removed. It was put right with further surgery to reshape and remove the scar tissue that had formed, and the other (reduced breast) was altered to match. I am seeing my plastic surgeon next week to discuss lipo from one side to the other to even it up a bit more.

There are quite a few women who have had lipo to fill out puckers, dents etc on this site and on the bcpals website (google it)- you can also send private messages there if you want to discuss more personal feelings. I joined it last Nov precisely because I wanted to contact 2 women I knew had had problems with their DIEPs and I didn’t want to vent my feelings of sadness, anger and disappointment and upset anyone considering the op- at that time I didn’t know that it could be put right. On the reconstruction forum there is a thread about further surgery, a lot of the women who have replied have experience of these type of ops.

You can ask for a second opinion- the consultant may be reluctant because it is a procedure s/he has little experience/success with- not because it isn’t appropriate for you.

Thanks Thanks for your help and support on this. It is something I think lots of us worry about and when things go wrong wonder why we did it and is it ever going to go right.
I will look at the other sites mentioned.
