I was diagnosed Feb 2014 with BC secondaries in Brain, Lymph (same side as original BC), and possible lung (not confirmed yet). I have had successful brain surgery to remove the brain met, but now looking at the chemo options for the lymph and lung.
Has anyone had “cyber knife stereotatic surgery” to remove lymp/lung mets with, after or instead of chemo ?
I would also like to know if there are chemo options that work particularly well for triple negative BC, which is the type I had and now have in my secondary mets.
Thanks
Wendy
Hi Wendy
I was DX in 2012 with secondaries to the sternum I had 12/18 treatments of Paclitaxol which was working but was stopped because I was so ill with side effects.I then had C/K radiotherapy which kept me stable for a year until Dec 2013 and then progression to ribs.I had a CT scan on Friday results today spread to lungs and lymph nodes in chest but can’t have any more RT so now it is chemo (capecitabine) as am also TN.
I wish you we’ll with your treatment Love Macie x x
hi wendy
i was hoping the could have done surgery to my TNBC lung when they were diagnosed as the tumour was quite small only 2cm.
but was suggested a research trial showing really promising results for TN so went for that, but unfortunately had marked progression after 3 cycles.
i then went on taxotere and was very optomistic but just had my scan results after 3 cycles (and 2 hospital admissions with septicaemia and my hickman line being removed… and worst of all missing my weekend away with the girls!) the bugg3r had almost doubled in size.
so im going on to capecitabine that macies on and hoping for some good news with that.
wish id been able to have the stereotactic or cyberknife rads at the outset when it was small and slow growing… but the wanted actual stable disease at that point too.
although the ganetespib and taxotere didnt work they were diff worth a bash as they do work for a lot of ladies… my tnbc is just a tempramental old bugg3r.
good luck wendy xxxxx
and good luck with the cap macie hoping for positive results for us both xxxxx
