I started taking Arimidex five days ago. Have just bashed the back of our car (fortunately only into our garden wall!). Not something I make a habit of(!) and just wondering whether my lapse in concentration is anything to do with the “may affect alertness and/or co-ordination, if affected do not drive” warning on the packet? Wondering if I am now a liability on the road, and would be really grateful to know whether anyone else has had the sleepy/anxious/un-coordinated effects that are mentioned. Couldn’t do without driving where I live, so hoping it was just a funny five minutes! Thanks. Sarah (then again will make it easier to explain to OH if I can blame the tablets!!!)
Hi Seabird
I haven’t been sleepy as such, but when I am at work feel as if my thoughts are not as quick as they could be. I was a little bit like that before anyway since my hysterectomy and removal of ovaries, that definitely affected it, but so much worse over the last month since I’ve been taking the Arimidex. It might settle down in time, the other girls will probably know, but I know in the short term brain function definitely not as sharp as it could be.

Hi Sarah,
I’ve been taking Arimidex for just over a year so have experienced many side effects from it. I would suspect though that what you are feeling is probably a combination of everything that you have been through rather than just the Arimidex…that’s just my opinion mind you!
You have been through a hell of a lot so I little phase of lacking concentration is allowed in my book whatever the root cause. Don’t worry about it and just enjoy that you are well enough to drive.

PS…where do you live…just so as I can avoid the roads when you are about!!! Lol…only kidding…good luck x
…you should be safe for a while, as I’m in Canberra - but coming home to UK for six weeks from middle of August - you have been warned! Seriously though, thanks for your postings, Julie and Sheana, and I too am hoping it is a minor aberration (probably can’t spell now either!). Sarah x
i agree - I have been on Arimidex for 9 months now. I am really stiff in the morning or getting out of the car if I’ve been a passenger but after about 5 steps I’m back to normal. Also get hot flushes - again! I agree with Sarah - it’s probably just a combination of what you’ve been through! Good luck.

I think that is right. I have been on Arimidex since last November. Seems fine. But I do have to think harder now about anything. Mind you, not being at work any more means I am not so challenged. Meeting up with ex-colleagues, as I did today, made my brain cells connect again. Get the hot flushes mainlyin the morning which makes me get up! And attempt to get going…
Hang in there! It will be ok.
Much love
Dilys
