Have I got breast cancer again?

Hi everyone, I hope you are all doing well.

I had lobular breast cancer in 2018, stage 2, had lumpectomy and radiotherapy followed by reconstruction operations and my treatment finished fully last year.

The last year or so I have been getting a lot of lumps which turned out to be fat Necrosis and cysts. Now I find myself in a worrying situation, I have at least 7 lumps in my left breast from the reconstruction already and now found another one, so I went to the doctors, she agreed it needed checking especially as I have had some itching deep under the breast. Then she checked my right breast, I knew my nipple had become flat, itchy and a little discharge on a daily basis so was going to mention it but then she told me she had found a small lump as well :head_shaking_vertically:.

Since this appointment and my 2WW referral I have noticed my right breast feeling quite uncomfortable when leaning forward. I followed the soreness and it goes in almost a straight line from the middle of my breast to about a quarter of the way along. I also noticed the same thing from the area of the lump across the top of my breast.

My question is, has anyone else experienced these symptoms? I know they can mean cancer, especially Lobular but was hoping someone might be able to comfort me and say they had the same symptom but it wasn’t cancer.

I have been worrying so much which isn’t like me, I am so strong normally but I’m finding myself crying for silly reasons. I have been 4 times in the last year about the lumps in my left breast and I was confident, even found myself comforting others at the hospital but this time feels different, maybe it’s because it’s in my healthy breast I’m not sure.

Any comforting words please. Thank you

Hi @SueDerb. I’m so sorry you’re going through this. If you search though the ‘Have I got breast cancer’ section you will find a lot of instances where individuals are discussing different symptoms and experiences - of course the majority of users of our forum are those who have received a breast cancer diagnosis so do try and keep that in mind.

If you need someone to speak to or have any questions, you can reach our nurses on 0808 800 6000.

We’re sending you all our best

Hi Chloe,

I hope you are well. Thank you so much for your reply. I have searched the symptoms but on there own they don’t sound too bad but having all these symptoms is worrying.

I was wondering if I could ask for an MRI if a mammogram and ultrasound are not clear with previously having Lobular Breast Cancer? I’m just worried it will be missed.

Just over a week to go for my appointment, it’s dragging but we are used to that aren’t we. Keep your fingers crossed for me please.

Take care. Sue x
