Just had my results back from my surgery last week which was a WLE and Nodes removed. (Primary)
No good news 20/22 lymph nodes were affected. BCN said it’s likely the cells have spread. Bone, lung and liver scan on Thursday, with results on Monday.
BCN said she rarely sees cases like this,
I’ve had pains in my legs for a few weeks, but also have celebral palsey which causes joint problems. Scared the cancer has spread to the bones.
Can anyone offer me any hope/encouragement. I feel I’m in a blackhole with no way out. I’can’t stop crying and am feeling so low.
I’m so very sorry about what you’ve been told. I dont have secondaries (that I’m aware of) but lots of ladies on here do. I’m sure someone will be along soon to offer support, advice and guidance. Just want you to know that I’m thinking of you.
Sorry to hear you have had bad news. I think there are others on the forum with quite extensive node spread who do not have secondaries, hopefully one will be along soon and respond.
regards
Sarah
Sorry to hear how low you are… you are at a very scarey stage at the moment awaiting results, i remember it well.I had spread to all of my lymph nodes, yet i am 4 years down the line and as far as i know! i dont have secondarys…and there are many more on this forum who have extensive spread to the nodes who havnt had spread elsewhere else.
I think your breastcare nurse has been a bit hasty saying its likely it has spread, putting you through more stress than you already are. Sometimes aches and pains are a result of stress and anxiety…
Best of luck with your scans and results, its a horrible time it really is, but there is hope…honestly.
Hi Dotty - I too think your BCN has been a bit hasty - as if we dont have enough to worry about. I had WLE and 3/10 lymph nodes affected and did get secondaries to the bones but this is very manageable too - just trying to say if you did get that diagnosis that it isnt the end of the world. There are MANY MANY ladies with lymph node involvement that dont get secondaries. Dont give up hope, thinking of you and hoping for great results for you, Debbie x
I am sorry to read that you have had such a bad day and are feeling so low, please do call our helpline for further support and to talk things through with one of our team, we are here for you. The number is 0808 800 6000 weekdays 9-5 and Sat 9-2.
I had 19/23 nodes infected and narrow margins which was discovered after the mastectomy. The doctors quickly booked me in for all manner of scans like you and they all came back negative. I had FEC
and TAX and rads. Nearly a year ago now and no evidence of spread. I recently had a bone scan because i had been getting aches and pains in my legs. (suspect tamoxofen is the culprit) That came back negative.
I believe medical personnel should be honest but not make assumptions as everyone is different. I am aware that I have a higher than average risk of the cancer coming back but most of the time I choose not to dwell on it. I cant pretend that the fear goes away but you get better at dealing with it. As my black hole was similar to yours, I hope my story gives you the hope/encouragement you need. Feel free to pm if you need to.
If you would like to send a PM just click on the persons user name you would like to send it to. next click on the green box in the right hand corner ‘send message’ You can then type your message and send it.
Hi there,
Panic not!! I had 10/11 nodes positive four years ago and I’m still here alive and well.
Bone, liver and chest scans were scary but everyone tried really hard to get the results back to me as quickly as possible.
I had chemo, rads and then straight on to Letrazole
and as I say four years later still no sign of any stray cells - long may it stay that way!
Mm OMG none of you have said what grade your BC was. I had chemo first( as rare to have a node according to surgeon) with grade 1 BC. Had 4/11 positive nodes when had ANC and WLE Diud not realise this was as bad as it seems. My BCN did not prophesise what your did Dotty. I think she was being hasty as others have said. Onc says I do not need more chemo which was v.much on the cards before the surgery. Need to go back for margins next week and was considering declining that as such a v.small sliver missed. Now feeling all over the place.I know you are all at different stages any comments?Jackie xx
Hi Dotty, No matter waht your results are tomorrow we will be there to support you. The waiting for results is always the hardest part to deal with for many of us. But we will be rooting for you tomorrow and are here if you need us. Love Val
