Hi ladies,
Chemo update. I finished my last chemo on the 18th September 2012. I had 3 FEC and 3 tax…I am doing rea;lly well so far (touch wood).even with the tax i sailed through it, even though many people warned me that its a nasty one. I did get niggly things like achey legs and i lost my taste but other than that i was OK.It didn’t make me ill as such. I am writing this for all the newbies who are just starting chemo. It isnt has scary as people make out. I know we are all different but i have made some new friends who were diagnosed roughly the same time as me and they too pretty much sailed through it. So please try not to be too scared of chemo because, not all of us suffer. Remember also that the newer treatments are much better that what they used to be…

oh wow, im so glad ive found this page, i have a list as long as my arm for all the things im gonna need for the se of FEC-T. i have bought everything and im so hoping i dont get the side effects that everyone talks about. not to bothered about the hair finding that quite a novelty. have my 1st session on wed. will let you all know how i get on. xx
Hi Jellymould, I had 6 x FEC and had no real problems, I was sick after my first one but was given another anti sickness drug (Emend) and was fine after that, I carried on working right through chemo. Before I started chemo I bought everything recommended, ginger biscuits, ginger ale, ginger tea, pineapple, you name it, I bought it, I didn’t use any of it as didn’t need it, the only thing I used off the recommended list was the digital thermometer x
Hi Jellymould, Good luck with your chemo on Wednesday. Let us know how you get on…
The reason i got through chemo was because i kept saying to myself in my head that it wouldn’t affect me and it worked. I guess i was lucky. The Taxotere wasn’t the best but even with that i had minimal side effects. My nails went a bit funny,i did get achy legs for a few days after, plus watery eyes. Oh and my taste buds went to pot. All of which were doable. FEC did harden my veins too but nothing i couldn’t handle.
Chascat, i never felt sick with FEC…once again i was lucky.
I used the digital thermometer every day, i got a bit obsessed with it…lol but then after a bit i never bothered with it.
Everyone is different, some people are really ill with chemo and others aren’t.

Hi ladies,
I want to post a new title but for some reason i can’t. So if anyone reads this, id be interested in your feedback and to hear from lafies who are ER negative and her2 positive.
Basically i am ER negative and I can’t seem to find much info about it, nor can i find ladies who are ER negative. It appears that if you are ER positive you are lucky. Once again its like the nodes issue anyone who is node positive, its all bad news. All i know is that if you are ER- the cancer is not fueled by hormones, so what is it fueled by??
Many thanks
Karen x
hi KB i am triple neg, which means i cant have any hormone therapy just chemo and rads, it is the cancer that has a higher rate of coming back because it feeds itself so there is nothing to control it. im also medullary carcinoma which is one of the rarer cancers.
Hi Jellymouold, triple negative is a nasty one ist it? i can have Herceptin because im HER2 pisitive but like you i cant have hormone therapy. Medullary carcinoma is supposed to have a good prognosis. i have two friends who have that type.
Im want to know what feeds our cancers, i dont think anyone knows tbh…x
But for what i can gather, if you are ER negative and you dont get a recurrence before the 5 years then after that there is less chance of it coming back. If you are ER positive there is more chances of it coming back after the five years…like in 10 or 20 years time. Plus ER ngative is supposed to respond very well to chemo. So we have that to hold on to…x
