Headscarf recommendations please! 🙏

I was lucky enough to escape chemo myself, but my friend has just had her second cycle. I’d like to buy her a really nice, luxury headscarf and am looking for recommendations from any of you lovely ladies going through it? TIA :folded_hands: :pink_heart: xx

Thank you - I shall have a look! xx

I wear headscarf’s as I cannot wear synthetic wigs.

Suburban turban provide a range of pure cotton, silk and bamboo headscarf’s that can be tied in a variety of ways.
I managed topickup some lovely rectangular silk headscarves at TK MAXX. One word of warning, if your friend looses most or all of her hair wearing a silk scarf on its own Ìt will slip off, I recommend using a Bald Beanie or cotton scarf underneath and the silk scarf over the top.

I have also found some lovely cotton wraps in charity shops but don’t buy unless your sure it’s pure cotton, pure silk or pure bamboo viscose type fabric.watch out for artificial viscoses, high cotton content or other natural fibres mixed with synthetics as chemo skin can easily become more sensitive, reactive or rash.

This Uk charity website might be of some use too, they provide info onlooking after hair during chemo, cold capping IF it’s medically okay and scalp care if hair does go poof. I have found it helpful. https://www.cancerhaircare.co.uk/

The look good feel good charity in the Uk provides headwrapping workshops in some hospitals which may be of use.

If chemo knocks her for six from side effects there is a USA website called Wrapunzel, they provide lots of headwrapping YouTube videos and an encouraging FB community group that welcomes woman who choose to head wrap due to effects from chemo. In the USA they provide headscarves to woman having chemo USA only but they will send their products to the UK but email them for advice about their products and suitability for chemo headwrapping. TBH they reply very quickly except during orthodox Jewish holy times. They advise on their main FB open page when these are though.

One point though, try to go at the speed your friend sets and needs. MY lovely SiL meant well but went in like a bull in a china shop. Straight after my first chemo caused a rather severe excema flare she sent me links for stick on eyebrows and eyelashes and suggestions for wigs because that was what her friend felt she needed. One size may not fit all.
Offer maybe via simply written card she can show you later so she knows you are willing to leave the offer for a headwear gift open until she feels ready to take you up or knows what she might like to try.
