Hi all im 6 months post 15 sessions of radiotherapy. My left radiated breast is hotter than my right normal breast.
The left is a LD reconstruction with implant and has always(21 years) been icy cold until last year’s lumpectomy for recurrence and radiotherapy. Now its permanently hot with redness near surgery/radiotherapy site even after 6 months. Has anyone had a similar experience with an older reconstruction and surgery xx
Dear @susynight, Thinking about you, this could be an infection you need to contact your breast cancer team tomorrow morning, they will probably need to see you, however if you feel the need call 111 now they will be able to point you in the right direction,
Wishing you well, health and happiness going forward.
Thankyou Tili. You are a great help as always! I will ring bcn tomorrow but as always I will feel like im being a bit fussy! I just wish everything could go back to my “normal” after surgery in 2004! Xx
Just to echo @Tili re contacting your team . I didn’t have any kind of reconstruction / implant but my breast was red hot and swollen for well over 6 months though gradually improving . I went to the Breast Nurse clinic 3 months after finishing my sessions because of what turned out to be an oil cyst but she was more concerned with the state of my breast which was still peeling at that point and said that if it didn’t improve I should be referred to the Lymphoedema Nurse . Mine did settle down eventually so perhaps yours will too but they need to be .onitoring you I think. Xx
