Heceptin in Wales
Heceptin in Wales Hi all
Jayne Sullivan is spending the night at the Welsh Assembly in Cardiff campaigning for all women in Wales who need it, to receive Hecepitin. I do not know Jayne or her circumstances but she was headlines on the Wales Today news programme tonight (Wednesday). This prompted me to email the Health Minister at the Welsh Assembly in support of Jayne. I would not benefit from Herceptin but I want to support all women who would.
Jayne is going to stay there until she gets a result. If she is there any lenghth of time I will go and keep her company asI live in Cardiff! May I ,ask if you feel at all inclined to support Jayne, to email the Welsh Health Minister : Brian.Gibbons-at-Wales.gsi.gov.uk.
Thank you
Mo
Thanks for the info I’ve sent my email in support of Jayne’s protest
I’ve sent my email too. Momomo
Many thanks for giving us this opportunity to join in with your protest. I sincererely hope it will not be necessary for you or Jayne to spend any more time in the freezing cold trying to get this drug made available those who need it. Good luck and keep us informed of how the protest is going and how we can help - even if it is just to send emails or perhaps cards, posters and food as at Greenham.
Best wishes

No Luck They’ve obviously got wise to people sending emails on this. I’ve had mine refused twice, reason given is PROTOCOL.

Did mine yesterday Straight after reading your thread, hoping it has been received and read.
I have been on the radio again today apparently, taken from tv interview saying that everyone should fight for and get Herceptin, but it makes the hair stand up on my neck to think Jayne Sullivan is doing this, good on her.
hanks for the support! Hi all
According to the Wales Today news this evening, Jayne is spending her second night in the Welsh Assembly building. I do not know Jayne personally but I intend to go down to the Assembly building tomorrow to give her my support. I am sure she will be delighted to know that some of you have emailed the Welsh Health Minister .
Thanks a lot.

Try Snail Mail If they’ve blocked emails to Brian Gibbons. I’m in Cardiff next Thursday visting the Uni with my son, but I sincerely hope Jayne gets the news she needs and can call off her protest well before then.
Tuesday 7th Feb Next Tuesday Jayne is walking from the old government building in Cardiff to the new one. Anyone who lives near Cardiff would be more than welcome to join her on her walk.

I really admire Jayne’s courage Unfortunately I do not live anywhere near Cardiff or I would join Jayne on her walk and give her a huge bunch of flowers. I am not Her2+ so would not benefit from Herceptin but strongly believe that everyone should have equal access to effective treatment.
Best wishes

Is there any way we can get in touch with her? I am having Herceptin on that day, being one of the lucky ones in Hampshire, but would love to have done something like this.
Anything else planned?

Reply Hi All
Just to let you know that I had a long and detailed reply from Brian Gibbon’s office. in response to my email to him in support of Jayne (the campaigner outside the Welsh Office).
Apparently Herceptin is funded for early bc in some parts of Wales but not all. There is a plan in place to fund it very quickly once it is recommended by NICE. I realise that this will not benefit bc patients who currently might benefit from it but are being denied Herceptin.
I was however pleased to get a reply and feel that some thought and effort went into it. I wasn’t dismissed out of hand or treated discourteously as some of you seem to have been.
Best wishes

Reply to email Hi all
I have also had a reply from Brian Gibbon’s office. It sounds as if it’s the same as the one Roisin had. I live in Cardiff but was unable to join Jayne for the walk to the new Assembly building. I am HER2negative myself but feel very strongly about the issue of Herceptain and I want to support the campaign to get it freely available to all who need it.
Love to all
