Hello to you all, I’m new here. Recently diagnosed with IDC, ER+ HER2+ with liver mets. Awaiting my date to start chemo, after a heart scan on Friday.
Am over the initial shock. I had no symptoms, this was found after a routine mammogram for turning 50. Hoping we can support each other.

Sorry that your first mammogram ended with a diagnosis of advanced breast cancer which can be managed but not cured. I have been diagnosed twice with early breast cancer once in 2003 and once in 2022. I think this demonstrates what a very variable disease breast cancer is.
It can affect men and women but it becomes more common the older you are.
Some risk factors that are associated with breast cancer diagnosis are alcohol consumption, overweight, no children’, taller than average height, taking HRT, severe acne, of Ashkenazi Jewish background.
Well those are the ones I remember. I forgot that being a woman is a risk factor as rates are higher among women than men.
Hello Charlie. Bless you, it’s such a shock diagnosis and treatment can be scary. You are in the right place here, we care about you and each other. We all have a different story, don’t just read the ‘bad’ bits, there’s lots of positives too. Sending love xx
Thank you for replying. I hope you are doing well after your own diagnoses. It certainly turns your world completely upside down doesn’t it. Best wishes to you
Thanks for your support, it certainly has been a shock. Yes, it’s a struggle finding a balance between good and bad. Really trying to keep positive, hope you are well
Thank you too. I am managing to turn my thoughts away from breast cancer now. I think it’s worth remembering that I’ve got cancer but it hasn’t got me…
