Hello! Newbie introduction

Hi everyone

I’ve been visiting the forum since my diagnosis and would like to thank all you lovely people as it’s been so helpful. Now I’m further down the road I thought I’d introduce myself.

I’m poppyblue. I’m in my mid fifties and I was recalled after my routine mammogram just before Christmas. I had no clue anything was wrong. I had my lumpectomy with a LTAP flap (left side) in February. My lymph nodes were thankfully clear. I don’t need chemotherapy and I started radiotherapy (5 sessions) today. It’s ER+ so I’ve started Letrozole.

As you’ll all know it’s been a lot of appointments and waiting to get to this point, but now the end of active treatment is in sight, it all feels a bit odd and “now what do I do?” I’m also starting to worry about longer term effects. Hoping the forums will help me find some answers to that! Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forum @poppyblue . I was diagnosed early fifties after routine mammogram and similar treatment to yourself . There most definitely is a time after everything calms down and treatment finishes that you stop look around you and think what the Hell just happened there ! It does change how you see the world and some people do need support moving toward after treatment . Breast Cancer Now run Moving Forward Courses to help with adjusting to life after breast cancer . I also made great connections with people on the forum when first diagnosed with really helped and I’m still friends with them now 11 years later !!

@poppyblue Well done for getting this far with your treatment, wishing you lots of luck with radiotherapy, cream up well and drink plenty of water.

As @Jill1998 has already said the moving forward course is highly recommended, I made friends, with 4 great girls, we all meet up for lunch at Kings Cross a couple times a year and have a great get together.. Everything will fall into place, take one day at a time maybe there is a cancer group in your area that you could pop along too.

Wishing you well, with health and happiness ahead, remember we are all here for you with love and support

Thank you for your kind welcome.

I haven’t heard of the Moving on course. I’ll have to look into it.
