Hello all, I’m so happy to be in this private area. I was awake till six this morning and my neck is stiff and painful despite taking my Co codinol and oral morphine, I did manage a few hours though. I’ve just had the district nurse come and clean up my picc line and flush it. It was quite bloody were the nurse at the Marsden stuck it all down without padding. It feels so much better now. I hope to get to know you all a bit better over the months ahead.
Best wishes to you all

Hi Blanna,
Welcome!
This private part for Secondary women is good as it means we can ‘talk’ freely without having to worry that we might upset any primary women who read the boards, though actually if they choose to read the secondary boards they should accept whatever we talk about there.
I’m glad you managed a few hours sleep and am pleasd that your line feels more comfortable now.
There are lot of lovely wome here nd you will find lots of support.
xx
Thanks Blanna for telling us about your troubles. Everyone here will b able to sympathise with you and offer support.
We all take a day at a time and try to bring in as much humour sometimes as we can .
Hopefully you will join in with word games and but book clubs etc here as well
Hugs xc
Thank you Carolyn,
I was looking at the other games threads and book club, it feels lovey to have somewhere to come and offer support to.
As promised here is the photos of my picc covers xxxx
Hiya blanna
Love love love your picc line …girl after my own heart with pink and purples.
I like tattoos and had one on my 40th birthday ( Winnie the pooh) on my 50th ( tweety pie) and on my 60th had betty boop but with a twist as she is holding the pink breast cancer badge to make it a little more personal.
Don’t b shy …post a picc of yourself too.
Hugs xx
Hiya.
I have plans for a few more word games …but letting these bed in first !!
Oh arnt we all naughty with our tattoos!!
I’m not due another until my 70th but don’t think I have much chance of reaching that landmark so might have another fairly soon!!
Hugs xc
I like that we all are thinking along the same lines with our tattoo’s., and welcome to the picc line club, life is much easier now for taking blood and having chemo. When you gat yours done ask for some extra tubular bandage, it’s so soft, and soaks up dye colour really well, I hope it’s OK to post a link but I also bought some pre made picc lines from Etsy etsy.com/uk/search?q=picc+line+cover&order=most_relevant&ref=related it takes time to ship but well worth the effort.
It was also suggested to get leg warmers to cover it, but I think I would get too hot. Maybe I’ll look out for leg warmers for the winter time as I’m expected to have mine for six to eight months.

I am new to this group although have had secondaries for some time. Have been struggling with this for years and have had various chemos over that time,at the moment am on weekly Paclitaxel had 21 so far and have used cold cap every time, must be mad. Had scan last week, results next week, will see how well it’s working, I think I am running out of treatment options now.
Best wishes to all.
Jan
Hello Janice and welcome .
Sorry we can’t offer any cures but hopefully we can offer some kindness and we have lots of things here to help focus away from the real world of chemo and treatment plans.
Best of luck for your results …we will all send loads of cyber hugs xxxxx
Hello and thank you for your welcome.
Helen I haven’t lost much hair at all I was told at the beginning that they have a lot of success with the cold cap when the chemo is Paclitaxel. Must admit I hate it and it does make the treatment time longer but can’t give up now. One lady at hospital trying it for the first time didn’t think she could do it,then looked over at me reading my mag and looking relaxed and thought if she can do it so can I.
I had a scan last week results next to see how it’s working.
My life seems to revolve around hospital visits but don’t feel I have much choice at present.
Jan
Well done for getting through another chemo and cold cap. It must b so nice having your dignity with keeping your hair as well. Do they recommend any special shampoo as mine is thinning a lot on letrozole ? I use simple shampoo but I read that dioxin is very good too.
Hugs xxx
Janice …I don’t like simple shampoo either and am going to try dioxin . My scalp is always itchy too and oncologists poo poo the hair loss but its miserable at times.
Everything has side effects and sometimes it would b nice to have a chemical free body but we are lucky to be giving all this treatment so we can fight the invaders !!!
Hugs xx
Hi Janice and Pen, just want reiterate what the other lovely ladies have already said, you will find lots of support on here and also lots of giggles too!!!
Hugs Janette xxxx

So I apologise for not greeting you all properly
Hiya blanna and Helen
So sorry you are in so much pain and its bad enough having c but not having enough pain relief is terrible.
Maybe you could phone the help line for emergency doctors and get something stronger to tide u over to u can see oncologist.
Hot water bottles are magic and I rely on mine every night .
All I can do is send loads of hugs and hope the pain settles for you to enjoy the weekend.
Hugs xx
