Hi, I have not been on the site for a while as I have been looking after my Mom. My Mom, age 65, was dx with bc and mets in spine in April 2007. She has had radiotherapy, chemo, tumor removed and more radiotherapy. Treatment finished in December 2007. Her onc is very pleased with her and is not seeing her again til May.
Problem is that although she has recovered from a gruelling round of treatment which has gone well she still seems very sick to me. Her breathing is laboured, which started when she had the radiotherapy, she still has ‘bad’ days when she feels sick and can’t walk very far without getting very breathless. She also doesn’t sleep well. I keep telling her or rather encouraging her to talk to her cancer nurse but she says she doesn’t want to bother her. Has anyone had someone go through this and do they feel they should seem in better health than they are now? Sorry does this make sense what I am trying to say is that although the treatment appears to have worked she seems in worse health than when she was dx?
Thanks.

I cannot help you with your question. All I wanted to say was everyone of us is different, but I would strongly suggest you or your mum talk to her cancer nurse - it would not be a bother to them at all - thats what they are there for.
The treatment your mum has been through has obviously been quite aggressive so I am not surprised that at the mo she seems worse, and she is not young at 65 but speak to the experts - just to put your minds at rest.
Take care
Fiona
