Help for my mum please

Hi everyone

I am new to this forum and I apologise if this is not the correct area to ask . Unfortunately my darling mum has recently been diagnosed with BC and is having a right sided mastectomy later this week. She has a very generous bust size and the breast care nurse at the hospital has said that the largest softie they provide will still leave my mum looking lopsided as they dont have any large enough. Does anyone know where I can purchase a large softie from please? She is a 42G bra size. Ive ordered her a mastectomy pillow and I also really like to get her a more suitable sized softie as this is distressing her and I just want to do what I can to help her. Many thanks for any help

Hi JoJo2020,

sorry to read ur post that ur mum has been diagnosed with bc.   Can i suggest that you take a look at a website called Nicola Jane.  They sell bra’s and softies and prosthetics.

There are so many of us that have had mastectomies,  myself included,  so ur mum can get so much advice and help on here.  Hoping her surgery later this week goes well.   If i can answer any questions please just ask.  Good luck mum.  Mini mad xx :sparkling_heart: :sparkling_heart:

Hi Jojo2020 - I’m so sorry to read about your Mum’s diagnosis, but you have come to the right place to get advice. As mini mad says, there are so many ladies who have been through the various treatments so please do come on here any time for any advice at all, practical or emotional support. And maybe your Mum might like to join in too when she feels up to it.

I agree with mini mad’s suggestion of Nicola Jane. Another place I use for bras is Amoena, and they also sell various breast forms and post op stuff.

I wish your Mum all the very best as she goes through this. She is very lucky to have such a caring and thoughtful daughter to help her. Please let us know if any of us can help further.

Evie xx

Hi there.

Sorry to hear about your mum. It’s horrible isn’t it, when you feel so helpless. I’m a big boobed lady although only one left now I’ve had a mastectomy. I’m an H cup and had no problem getting an H cup softie and prosthetic, although it had to be ordered by the fitter. They normally come to the hospital and you arrange an appt to see them. They are very helpful and sympathetic  I think your mum should be able to get the right size but the Breast Cancer Nurse should be able to help you in this  I actually wear a sports bra from Bravissimo, who do large cup sizes as I didn’t find any of the other companies had much for the G cup plus sizes. You can order a few online and send back the ones that are no good. They are not cheap, usually around £40, but I think are worth it  Hope this helps and sending you and your mum virtual hugs.
