I am waiting a date for a right side mastectomy due t breast reduction that when badly wrong following getting a badcase of mrsa would lie to have same support and find out what will happen in the first few weeks i am scared and feel very alone my name is sue
Hi just read your post n just wanted to wish you well with the mx. Ihad mx 18 months ago and actually pain wise didnt find it that bad and mentally too, but it was removed in different circumstances. Your story drew my attention as I have just had to have an implant removed due to infection (on my good side) andit did cross my mind what if I have to have a mx on that side too.
There are options for reconstruction (ive had LD recon) which go a long way to giving something back, good luck with your surgery.

I had my mx done 4 weeks ago and the best piece of advice I got from this site was “the anticipation is a lot worse than the actual procedure” this was soo true! I wondered why I had got myself into such a state after. The pain isnt too bad, nothing a couple of paracetamol cant help with. Personally, I had detached myself from my breast before my surgery and couldnt wait to get it taken off, but I realise that everbody is different in that respect.

Catching MRSA was one of my concerns after each of my three ops but I was fine. When my mum was in ICU a young girl caught it and hence I was so concerned. I’m so sorry that you are going to now lose your breast because of MRSA.
You are never alone on here, there is always someone here to listen and help if they can.
I have had a Mx but had immediate recon as well. I have met ladies during my 2 prev ops who had Mx only and they were up and about soon aft their ops - you will be fine.
The part I didn’t like were the drains though you do get used to carrying them about with you, but I refused to come home with them and so had to stop in hospital an extra day or two.

Just read your post and I am someone who has had a reduction and an mx but the mx was for cancer. Reduction took place in 2003 and mx took place in 2009. My reduction also became infected but fortunately for me it cleared up. Just wanted to reassure you that the mx is a lot less painful than the reduction, although I havent had my recon yet so cant tell you about that one, Oh and by the way there is no link between the two.

thank you , he can not go a head yet as the breast is to infected again so he need it to settle down so it safe sick of it all and scared were it all going to end

Hi. Just wanted to tell you something you might want to investigate. When I went this week to get my breast infection treated at the hospital, I mentioned your situation to the nurse caring for me. She said that they (the breast unit) has managed to sucessfully treat MRSA with a type of drug, Im sure she said used to treat TB??. Might be worth a mention to your doc you never know?

I have asked my dr about this drug but he said he try it lasted year ,however now really worried has my right breast has got much more smaller over the past 2 weeks , but all my dr saids is i got mrsa on th skin and not to worry could the change in breast size show another poblems as their is history of bc in family
If u r worried, get a second oppinion. Ring the help line on here or speak to BCN or go back to gp’s. You know youre own body, with bc, you have to know you have done the right thing to satisfy youre own mind. I had a few ultrasound scans when i had my infection in good side, they would show up anything bad.
and also did he try this drug on you??? it may not have worked on someone else but it might on you, everyone is different.
yes he try the drug twice did not work see in him thruday to check things out so i am going to ask for a scan then thank you for all your support hope you are doing ok sue
awaiting to see a new dr about mmrsa ,my vreast dr has agreed that right breast i now a lot smaller and is waiting report fromnew dr before gong ahead with more test.
