Hi Norberte
I’m so pleased to hear that you found the Phenergan worked for you, even if it did knock you out for a while! I’m going to try the lower dose ones and see if those are effective enough, I felt rather dopey this morning after taking a high dose one last night. Although it’s quite nice in a way to have such a big sleep after so many sleepless nights!
And 2 of the 25mg pills = 5 Night Nurse capsules, so could be considered slightly excessive! But at least you didn’t take all that paracetamol that would be in the equivalent Night Nurse. I wonder how much profit the Night Nurse manufacturers make from people who take it to make them sleep rather than because they’ve got a cold? It costs zillions more than Phenergan.
Should have taken a pill but didn’t so I’m awake again. Urgh .
morning at last.bad night have gone and got me some phenergan 25 mg am going to take 1 tonight.have got some Temazepam but first time very good second time still awake so will only take as last resort.can you tell me how long they take to work?and by the sound most people had a good night sleep whilst taking phenergan, hope that`s me too.choccie muffin what is your standard drug of choice?
Interested to see some of you using phenergan - did any of you get the reception from a few pharmacists that I’ve had - as if I’m asking for some hard drugs? Some say they don’t stock it, but with attitude if you know what I mean. I’ve slumped out chemists embarrassed more than once.
I’d taken to buying it online.
But one thing I have noticed. I used to have frequent muscle twitching and the odd jerk (not the ex OH) and was tested by neurologist who said it was benign fasciculations. But I’ve only realised that since stopping the anti-histamines (either phenergan or nytol) and going on amitryptiline these seem to have stopped and am wondering if the twitching was a side effect. I am chronic insomniac so was taking them for ages.

My drug of choice is a nice tasty Rioja or a pint or so of London Pride…
Yes I got a right grilling from one pharmacist but from another I got no grief at all. The similar situation that pi**es me off is when you ask for a packet of ibuprofen and the teenage bimbo behind the counter asks “are you taking any other medicines”. As if I’m going to discuss all my BC medication with her and in public!
CM - I find a couple of glasses of red help wash the Phenergan down nicely!
Hi ladies
I have a fond memory of phenegan. In the olden days, when my children were little, phenegan was used for a variety of childhood ailments! One Christmas eve my daughter was obviously just on the “not sure stage” about Father Christmas. All their presents were in the loft, pre packed in identical pillowcases to the ones hanging empty on the fire guard. Each time we tried to get them she came flying out of her bedroom. I finally resorted to phenegan to knock her out as I was desperate to go to sleep. Then laid awake feeling guilty and worrying I’d over dosed her.
Naturally she was fine, and we did get just one more magic morning.
I didn’t think you could still buy it. I like a good rose combined with the herbal nytol seem to work.Add lavendar oil on the pillow and OH says I sleep like a baby. Actually he says like an old wart hog but I can’t hear me snore.
Happy days.
Chinook.

Well that wasn’t too bad. ONE temazepam washed down with half a glass of wine (wasn’t very nice wine, needs to go in a stew) and I slept until 5 this morning, then plugged in my radio and dozed again until Match of the Day. A good night, all in all. I’m not going to use them every night, but nice to have one night where I wake up feeling rested.
afternoon took a temazpam, slept till 3 then wee break back to sleep woke aroud 6¬ish last night,am not sure if i can take phenegan as i took a temazpam on the 25th august how long does the drug stay in your body and would it be ok to take phenegan to night gecause i know i need something cant seem to relax at night (i wonder why)have some sleep mist from bodyshop will give that a try as well.would be glad of all your imput hope you all have a good night.

Oh don’t, I’m blushing - or is that another hot flush?!
And Hi to Sheil
Having checked the info on Phenergan, one of the listed possible side effects is tremors, so that could have been the cause.
I found amitriptyline was good for making me sleep and for numbing nerve pain in the weeks after surgery, but once I got to the stage where I didn’t want my nerve endings numbed (i.e. rejuvenating sex life and wanting to feel what was going on!) it wasn’t so good.
afternoon .selpt badly did`nt take anything but am going to tonight will try some phenergan and see how that works out.have been to chemo unit today to giev blood as fec no3 on wednesday if bloods are ok.the place was so quiet (bank holiday) you must not get sick!!!am only going to take 1 tab.so i hope all you ladies have a good night sleep tonight.

Hi Cheshire Cheese
I thought that particular side effect was the aromatase inhibitors. I’m down to 10mg most nights, still ‘working’ so to speak, but slowly…oh so slowly… So might try going back on the antihistamines and see what happens. Who knows?

Hi Sheil
Which Nytol did you try, there were 3 in Boots, the herbal one and two others, was not sure which one to chose or what the difference was?
Thanks

Morning all. Unfortunately. Think I’m going to have to give citalopram or similar a go. This waking up nonsense is getting to be seriously unfunny…
My GP put me on zopiclone this week but only everyother night… so last night no pill and hardly any sleep… what else can i do?
