Help reassure me

I’ve been panicking since Sunday. Saw gp yesterday re lump in lower inner breast and noticeable change in shape. She’s referred me to the breast clinic urgently for what she’s described as a 5cm firm partially mobile lump. Her gut instinct with mine is that it’s cancer, but she says she’s been wrong before and noone can be sure without scans etc. I can’t stop googling types, staging, prognosis and everything else. Does anyone know if a) large lumps like this still might be benign or b) how to cope with the wait?

I’m in such a state I don’t even know if this posted.

Hi @al1kat I’m so sorry you find yourself here. Please know you have come to the right place, we’ve all had the same feelings you have now. The panic of not knowing is awful. Sending you some big hugs

Unfortunately there’s going to be a few weeks waiting for you now inbetween appointments and tests but it gets easier I promise and you did the right thing going to your gp

Keep in mind that you don’t have anything until they’ve biopsied things and officially confirmed it. Even the best doctors cant diagnose these things without sending things to a lab somewhere. Try not to think too far ahead. 1 step at a time

Thank you @foxgem . I’ve heard others say that the waiting is the worst part. I just keep imagining that every twinge is suspicious
