Help! What do you say to people who notice and comment on your arm sleeve /glove?

I’ve been recently diagnosed with lymphoedema in my hand and arm and feel like I have to find some more reserves of energy for getting to grips with and managing this latest lovely event!

People are bound to be curious and ask “What’s wrong with your arm?”  I don’t know that I have the energy to tell them in detail and most people need lymphoedema explaining to them as they haven’t come across it before.

So…any tips?

They’d be much appreciated!

Hi Parky, I replied to your other thread about the hygiene. I work in a school and what with new staff and children coming and going all the time I still get asked “whats wrong with your arm” and after 6 years it’s become a bit irritating lol.I did explain it to a few  but to most I just said it was lymphoedema and told them to google it cause it’s hard to explain lol. To anyone who asks now I just say, my arm aches sometimes, and leave it at that. You could carry a lymphoedema leaflet everywhere you go and whip it out your bag when someone asks and say “read this” lol  xx

Hi stressy-many thanks for replying. I also work in a school, so can identify with your situation. Wondering whether to tell whole class at once, rather than child by child briefly what it is…
