Hi I know its not BC related but it is kind of. i have been off work and now just had 2nd pay since bc and its getting less and less re sick pay. they say dont work dont get paid which is fine but how do i supplement income, i have this month 4 weeks ssp and i cant pay my bills plus extra expense of hospital visits. plus i have my dog to look after she goes to day care when work. my parents are here with me, i am at their house as going thr divorce but i pay them rent as they have very low income mum doesnt work and dad self employed and works as and whn. my dog is with me but i need to go back work which i have done part time but have big dog too much mum handle so still pay doggie day care for her but where do i get the money to pay other bills even tho live with parents still pay rent and bills and run my car, pay alot out every month and trust me now luxeries of clothes and holidays, i wish… Any advise be so grateful, thank you - ps i have good job but no work no pay. I’d been on sickness benefit for a few months prior to my diagnosis and just had to survive as best I could on it. I did go to see the hospital social worker who was very helpful and got my car tax paid for in no time by the McMillan cancer fund - also asked if I needed new clothes due to weight loss etc (I didn’t thankfully)
Give your hospital a ring and they’ll make an appointment for you…good luck.
