Is anyone on hormone therapy for liver mets ? If so which one and do they work at keeping the mets at bay and for how long ? Xx

Hi Sianie
Having seen your other post on the liver mets thread I’m assuming you are asking this for/about your Mum? You say that she is currently on weekly Taxol (if I read that right) and has another 7 to go and will then go on to hormone tablets. Although nothing is ‘standard’ or ‘usual’ for treatment of mets what normally happens is chemotherapy is given to sort of blast the mets and then depending on the type of BC eg hormone positive/negative and/or HER2 positive/negative a follow on treatment is given. As your Mum must be hormone positive (if she had been told that she will be having hormone therapy) this would be the normal type of follow on treatment for her BC and works by blocking the receptors so stops the BC from growing and can be effective for many years. I was stable on hormone therapy for nearly 5 years, until my liver mets were then found, as the mets progressed from my bones, and others have been too. Hopefully you get a few more replies to help with your question.

Thanks Nicky08 for you reply. There does seem to be lots of long turn survivors of bone mets who then found mets in the liver but my mums have only been found straight in her liver which being a major organ I can’t see longer that 2 years if we are lucky not that we have been told any time length from the Drs but just what I have researched. How are your liver mets being treated ? When we’re yours found ? You said you had been stable with bone mets got 5 years, do you lead a relatively normal life now ? Xx
