Help!

Im back again! I started looking at the forums after a friend was dx with bc-shes had a bilateral mastectomy 10 days ago and is doing “ok”. So…I had a good feel of my own boobs and have found a small hard lump behind my left nipple and if I squeeze hard I get a tiny black discharge from the nipple.(sorry to be so graphic!)I also have a fatty lump in my left side that I was told was ok about 3 years ago. I have made an appt to see the woman dr at my surgery-(next weds the earliest!!) who, incidently is my friends gp too. Am I worring over nothing? Your comments would be appreciated!

Hi

Nope you are not worried about nothing, discharge should be checked and so should the lump. Is your discharge greeny black if so its the same as mine, which wasnt a problem until they found blood traces. They will give you a smear of the discharge and check your lump, dont panic though, if you have been reading through these discussions you will know that the symptoms can be caused by other stuff too.

Good luck let us know how you get on

Yvonnes is right

discharge can be caused by many things so you need to get it checked out. The problem is with looking at these forums, you are going to imagine the worst whereas it is far more likely to be an infection, cyst etc. Wednesday will soon come round or if you are a panicker like me, I took the first doctor available which was a man. He was lovely and very professional and I wasn’t the least bit embarrassed and the relief once I had seen him was immense.
