@naughty_boob Iām not on the biophosphonates but I think chemo also weakens teeth
Iām cleaning thoroughly and going at it with mouthwash ā¦ temp is normal ā¦ will ring dentist first thing and see if I can get an appointment for either tomorrow or Tuesday but itās awkward as my oncology is tomorrow and bloods on Tuesday so I canāt change those but I definitely need a temporary filling in it ā¦ Iāll plead my case and hope for the best !
Itās very sore around the empty socket where the bridge was despite it having healed up six years ago !
I just been reading your comments about trouble with your toothā¦ i really hope you get it sorted. I know my mums friend lost a tooth through chemo! As if we not got enough on as it is eh! I think 111 now do a dentist option if you want to give them a call, you might be able to get some advice and even be seen.
My dad is okay, they did tests and taken blood i know they take blood and test it for suspected heart attacks etc. Its been chaos with this snow up here, i live in Barnsley and we have had it bad. They said that they were going to keep him in however they let him out earlier as there was only one Dr and no staff barely because of the weather. So he was on a drip and heart monitor and they got his heart rate back to normal and he has to go back tuesday. So i told him to take it easy for now. The always seems be something! Im getting mega fed up lately of things getting thrown our way!
@jeml it sounds like he needs further investigation for tachycardia x awful to just leave him to walk home though sadly once discharged they arenāt equipped with the facilities to help you get home
Iām a private patient as no nhs dentists in existence where I live but did call
111 and they just said the emergency clinic is an hour away in Gloucester and only runs on Saturdays and basically told me to go back to my hcp so in a nutshell I think Iāve got to just keep it as clean as poss and hope for the best ā¦ itās typical it happens on a weekend
Hi everyone. My name is Jessy and I was diagnosed in September with Stage 2 HER2+ (hormone neg) BC, am just about to finish neoadjuvant chemo (TCHP). I am multicentric, with lots of tiny tumours across top of boob, and had some positive armpit nodes at diagnosis.
Although the mid way MRI scan showed that the treatment is working, I feel really overwhelmed as chemo comes to an end. Iām just exhausted and crying a lot. I want to feel positive but just know there is so much to go still.
I love hearing stories from women who have been able to move on from this nightmare and are living their best lives.

My names Jemma and i got diagnosed in June, HER2 pos only. I have had 6 rounds of chemotherapy along with phesgo injection. I noticed a difference straight away, a few days after my first round the swelling in my breast was going downā¦ then the 2nd chemo the swelling totally was gone. I had 2 mri scans inbetween treatment and the 1st one did show that my nodes was now clear and my lump was half sizeā¦ my lump at diagnosis was around 2.7cm. Then i had a scan after 5th round and it showed no tumour at all it totally melted it away as my Dr said to me. So i still had my 6th round then i opted for a double mastectomy with me being only 33 with a little one i thought it was the best decision for me. I had my operation on the 18th December.
Im now just waiting on my results from surgery and also waiting to see when and how much radiation i need.

@jeml can I ask you did you ask for the dmx? Like you I am HER2+ only. They say they cannot measure my tumour as itās breaking down and I also have dcis and calcifications so wonāt know if I have any disease left until after my mastectomy. I am tempted to ask for a dmx but I am much older than you (51). I am seeing the plastic surgeon this afternoon and just had my bloods and all being well last chemo tomorrow. Have everything crossed and just want to reduce any future risk as much as I can but not sure I will be offered a dmx
I did, i saw my surgeon and he said to me it would be a lumpectomy with how well i responded to treatment. And then he said ā but what do you want? ā and straight away i just said a double mastectomy. I just said im young i got my girl to think aboutā¦ its what i wanted from the start which my nurse knows as i have said it many times in our conversations. And i did have a scare in other breast but it was benign changes. But i said for my mental health i want them both gone. And straight away he said okay i will do it.
He his lovely my consultant and he didnt argue against it or anything and respected my wishes. I didnt opt for the reconstruction but its there if i want it further on down the line.
I read so much about lumpectomy etc and to me its not enough ( thats my opinion obvs) but all nurses on chemo ward and lady who put me to sleep before my op said to meā¦ its a big decision but it 100% is the right one. And i honestly do not regret it.x
If its something you really want then i would use the mental health card. Its a big decision so just make sure that you are 100% on it.
But i did not feel comfortable having a lumpectomy. But thats me.
I dont know if they did it for me with being young etc because i fully expected a debate about it but straight away he said okay. But then again my nurse told them at the meeting thats what i wanted from start. So that probs helped x
@jeml thank you. I have to have mastectomy because my dcis is a large area and I am very small chested. I will ask about DMX this afternoon. To be honest it will be my mental health and the worry. Although my husband says why do I worry about things that havenāt happened yet and may never happen, but like you cancer once is enough. Xx
I had surgery first then chemo/herceptin. You are doing amazing!
Itās totally normal to feel overwhelmed especially after chemotherapy finishes, it is a very strong medication and really debilitating. I had radiotherapy afterwards and 8 more months of Herceptin which finished in September 2024. I have some ongoing issues with pain and cording but getting help.
I would say Iām on the other side and enjoying my life. I feel fitter and stronger than I have for a long time but I have to say I have a way to go to be my re cancer self.
I had counselling (can get free at Maggieās and MacMillan) and attended a Moving Forward course after radiotherapy.
Moving Forward: Finishing treatment can be hard, and it can be difficult to move forward with your life. You can access our support online or face-to-face. Our online information hub and Moving Forward journal provide extra ideas and information. Courses run over 2 weeks, with 2 3.5hr sessions. Or trained facilitators and volunteers are there to help. Find a course near you.

It takes time. I feel a lot better now i have stopped chemo but i am still tired.
I have a nearly 3 year old so that adds to it too lol.
And when i had my surgery my surgeon said we are expecting clear margins! So fingers crossed if it did come back with cells it means i will change from phesgo to something else which is stronger.x
True, but we do worry and its natural for us to worry specially when it is us going through it with our body. They also put on my record for Symmetry purposes. You could also use that too. X
Yes I think theyād probably put you on Kadcyla. Which I understand is really good at preventing recurrence so either way, youāll be absolutely fine x
