Little update, SMX and reconstruction all done, was super quick, now just need to wait for results xx
So pleased both your surgeries went well. Rest up and keep up with pain meds at least for the first 2 days. If on codeine it can bung you up so make sure you have some senna/laxido on hand as well as fruit like pears or kiwi.
Do your exercises but find be hard on yourself if you struggle be guided by your body, you will get their eventually.
I am tagging in @sacha so they can join
Hopefully they will now post and let everyone know who they are.
Tips needed!!! Twice I have stood up to go to the bathroom and forgotten I have a drain attached to me!! Any tips I on how to remember it. I am worried I will pull it out, although my bra has got it in pretty tight! Xx
That is a good tip. I have got a drain bag I should use it
There are drain pouch bags that are available online. We got one in the brightest colour and that sort of helped. Also my partner made a big note on a sheet of paper and stuck it to the bathroom door right in front of the seat, saying " Drain Attached". She says it helped her !
Honestly I said I need notes left everywhere. I am hoping it gets removed today as I am a liability with it
Trust me notes are the greatest invention ! It helps a lot really ! Good luck with the drain removal
Hi all
Itās really good to hear from you @jessybessy and @galdiolus and know that youāre both through surgery. Those pesky drains! I went up Reigate Hill for a coffee with mine attached and noticed a tube hanging out the bottom of my skirt which explained the troubled looks I was getting. Still, I considered it a victory so was not too concerned if it put everyone off their toasted paninis.
@carrie5 - I love that you have a ānice thingsā folder. I liken it to my Positivity Document. My counsellor said that was a very good tool to fight back against the negative feelings so I think itās a great thing to share. My Positivity Document is full of quotes that gave me hope and helped me to keep a positive mindset. Which helps us to fight back and boosts our immune system. Some of the quotes were from this thread from other women whoād already travelled the pathway. They helped me massively.
@jeml Thatās a beautiful Beatrix Potter pic. I have been running myself ragged again over the weekend and I felt tired when I woke up this morning so a huge well done to all of us who remember to do stuff for ourselves because that is self-care. I need to take a leaf out of your books! @fimac I expect it will be the loveliest dog blanket if it doesnāt make it onto your bed! I absolutely love crocheted clothing. Did I ever show you my yellow crocheted flare suit? Apologies if this is the second time of posting but itās so spectacular that it deserves it!
Salbert

@salbert I absolutely love that yellow suit! Hope you still put it on every so often. Itās like the sun coming out!
I absolutely adore your suit @salbert. My blanket is cathartic. As my crochet skills get better each week, so does the cancer. Thatās whatās in the back of my mind.
Well done to the surgery girls, another stage ticked off.
Amazing suit @salbert ! Sunshine.
I had a nice notebook i wrote in whilst having treatment of all the places and trips i wanted to go on when i was better. I have booked my first trip away and am going to Delft in the Netherlands at the end of March. It wasnāt on my original list, but thought it would be an easy one to do as iām going on my own. If i can do chemo i can do anything! I decided i needed to do a solo trip.
Good news at my oncology check up today i only have 5 Phesgo to go! Thank goodnes as i think this is contributing to my problems, had a bad week with that last week, urgh. Also have had to increase my blood pressure medication as that has risen recently. I have got a bit of scanxiety tho, as first mammo due on wednesday, also still have quite a tender boob on affected side so not looking forward to it.
As ever Iām
Playing catch up with all the messages ā¦ this cycle has hit hard plus Iāve been trying to work (paperwork ) ā¦ Iām going to have a good read through and catch up !
How fabulous going to the Netherlands, would you be there to see the tulips?
Scanixety is real. Will be thinking of you Wednesday. Itās not easy having your first mammogram after everything youāve been through. I had a bilateral lumpectomy so both my boobs were more tender than normal for my mammogram and the operator said she would squeeze the minimum pressure that she needed to get the job done. It was more uncomfortable squeezing side wards for me as my scars are on the side of my boobs. As usual everyone is different and your may be less uncomfortable. Just let them know if you feel anxious or are unsure. I found them more caring than the screening programme.
Hi @arty1
I too am playing catch up on several threads!
I either need to collate a list of who to reply to or need two screens as my brain has been addled.
I am going to add it to my tasks for tomorrow.
Read that you had slapped a bench. Brilliant. You looked fab without the wig. Iām going to look out for benches the next time I go to Worthing. I might leave a little note on it as a tribute to @salbert. If thereās no bench Iāll slap my arse when the time comes!
@mrsjelly I feel we need someone to do a synopsis so we can catch up quickly ā¦
I literally laughed out loud at arse slapping ā¦ we should slap a bench . AND our arsesā:joy:
You have just made me snigger
@mrsjelly that made me cackle. Thereās a bell at my centre but I donāt want to have any attention, so Iām not going to ring it when I finish Kadcyla and since thereās no benches I might have to slap my arseā¦
