Youā€™re truly a star, @Salbertā€”such an uplifting message for me! I guess a positive mindset goes a long way, and itā€™s something I really need to focus on alongside all the treatments. I hope that one day, I can be like you and the other amazing ladies hereā€”to regain a sense of control, enjoy life, and feel like myself again!

Dears

Had my pathology report back after mastectomy. My medical team is very pleased :relieved: to give you some background, I was diagnosed as stage 3+ and had a quite big tumor stretching 9 cm x 5 cm X 5 cm and 4 lymph nodes involved. Also engagement in the nipple. As you can understand very scary.

The pathology report stated me as RBC 0 and 1. This is quite amazing results given how it started. The original tumor was all gone, nothing in the lymph nodes and nothing in the nipple. There was however a small area (mm) with cancer cells. Thus my team want me on Kadcyla for the rest of the year. Iā€™m actually quite ok with this. Of course I wanted PCR but 0 and 1 is definitely something to be proud of. Happy and thankful that there are treatments available.

I wish you all a lovely weekend :two_hearts:

Welcome to the Kadcyla team @musestadā€¦ while it sucks to have to do more treatment, Iā€™m so grateful that it is an option for me and that it is as effective as it is. My original tumour was about as big as yours, 11 cm area but flatter. Hopefully you tolerate it wellā€¦ :crossed_fingers:

Wow so much is going on and I decided to have a few days off from the forum.

@frame I hope Angela is resting and doing her exercises as much as she can. Before you know it chemo will be starting but just know itā€™s going to get rid of those pesky cancer cells.

@musestad Great news about your pathology and as you can see some of the lovely people on this thread are already half way through Kadcyla :tada::tada: @kartoffel We had mobile mast some years ago behind our house and it couldnā€™t be overturned. Itā€™s since been extended even taller so original planning that said it would be screened by trees has gone out of the window. Family members have worked in telecommunications and said itā€™s less risky the nearer you are to the mast than further away. But you never know if it has affected cancer/illness issues in the locality like mine :disappointed:

@jan30 First chemo done :tada:I canā€™t say anymore than @salbert has said. They have a plan and treatment for you so thatā€™s positive.

@Linda_Corinne well done for getting a second opinion. Itā€™s not easy to decide what to do. Donā€™t forget you can call the BCN nurses to talk all your options through.

Hope everyone else is ok. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Had my ct to plan radiotherapy. A couple of cysts on liver need investigation so need mri.
Went for my 3 weekly herceptin yesterday and couldnt have that because my muga scan hasnt been booked when they said they were booking me in. Also my zoledronic acid has been missed at end of my treatment so had to have bloods taken for that and will have it next week with hopefully the herceptin. I feel so disappointed in my treatment. Im seeing oncologist next week so words will have to be said. So upset and angry

@hlc I can understand you are upset, I would be too. Very disappointing that things havenā€™t been booked. Definitely take it up with oncology and find out why it happened so it doesnā€™t happen again.

Iā€™ll keep everything crossed you get your treatment next week without a problem.

Morning all

@frame thanks for the update and I hope Angela is doing well. Itā€™s great to hear that she is feeling so positive.

@kartoffel - It doesnā€™t actually surprise me that you are considering running for local councillor. (Love Councillor Kartoffel, by the way @carrie5 ) You are, after all, the woman who has continued to run throughout chemo and took on a new job and managed to work all the way through without telling anyone. You are an iron woman! I donā€™t think the woman who accused you of NIMBYism realises what a fearsome opponent she has just taken on. Go for it, Kartoffel. Potato power!

@magl I tried the BBC Sleeping Forecast last night and I have to say that I woke up with some lovely piano music in my ears at some point during the night but I donā€™t remember much else so I figure it worked. That and the half bottle of pink Freixenet. (Valentineā€™s gift and weā€™re away for the weekend and yes, I am clarifying that in case people think I am slipping back into my old lush ways!)

@jan30 You will get to that point. Itā€™s something that naturally happens as you adjust to your new normal and confidence in your treatment grows. And eventually your new normal just becomes your normal. Sometimes it strikes me that the knowledge that I have had breast cancer should have me more worried and then I come to the conclusion that thereā€™s no point and how lucky I am that I have had such incredible treatment. I realise that some people have a worse experience than I have had and not everyone can feel positive but I do believe that the fear subsides in general. Not all the time, sometimes we can have down days, but personally I feel back to normal now. Iā€™ve even started screaming at other motorists on the drive to work every day so my newfound zen is clearly ebbing away!

@musestad Thatā€™s brilliant news!! I really love it when people share updates like this as it gives hope to anyone starting out on treatment. I have a smile on my face as I type!

@jeml YES!! My husband actually remarked on my ā€˜lovely hairy faceā€™ after chemo. I had a very impressive coating of the peach fuzz. It had to go. I bought a Remington Ladyshave and with a resigned sigh I set about shaving my face!! Luckily it has not returned. Your hair is growing back really well. My hair is growing back very bushy, curly and dark. Even my eyebrows and eyelashes have grown back dark and they were super blonde. Iā€™m quite enjoying seeing how it turns out but at the moment I look so much like my mother that I keep getting a shock every time I catch sight of myself in the mirror and realise itā€™s me. @arty1 Fab news that your hair is also growing back so fast. I have some idea that it will be a vivid colour again in no time! Iā€™m toying with bleaching mine white then dyeing it powder blue as I finished chemo back at the beginning of July so enough time has elapsed. Then again, Iā€™m loving the low maintenance of going au naturel.

@debly123 Yours will be growing back by August, Iā€™m sure. I think your headgear looks nice in your pic. I just loved my wigs. I have enough for a large army of drag queens. My hair is at such a bad in between stage (think elderly Parish Council woman) that I should probably get some of them out again!

@hlc That is hugely disappointing. Mistakes have been made there and delays are not good for us when treatment is such a long haul. We just want to get on with it. You must definitely ask how you can ensure this doesnā€™t happen again. Your oncologist needs to tell you when you should be getting what so that you can push for the appointments if they donā€™t come through.

As I said earlier, we are away again. I am determined to always have a break booked in to look forward to. Itā€™s all about quality time for me now. Travelzoo had an excellent deal on for a hotel in Oxfordshire and so here we are lying on a bed in a hotel room having eaten a huge breakfast that has meant we have to recover rather than go for our planned walk along the Ridgeway ancient path. My husband has just vowed that tomorrow he will just eat fruit for breakfast. Iā€™ll report back tomorrow but for the record, I will not be offering good odds on him having a full English breakfast again.

And then I was about to lay back on the bed, dog curled up against my legs, and listen to Desert Island Discs but my IBS had other ideas. Thank God we didnā€™t go for that walk after all. I think I may also have to lay off the full English breakfasts for a while. What was I saying about a new normal?..

Have a restful and peaceful Sunday, wonderful women,

Salbert
xx

For those that have in between hybrid hair, apparently the pullet (pixie-mullet) is the hot haircut of the season so weā€™re all bang on trend with our growing out hairā€¦ Why the ā€˜pulletā€™ is the coolest haircut for 2025

Hello everyone - little over a week out from my SMX and am healing well.

Now in the agonising wait for pathology report. I was told post surgery that my lymph nodes were clear (they removed 8 which all tested negative) and that there was nothing in the nipple, which I guess is a good sign. Bricking it though :scream:
