I wasnā€™t told to massage my scars after my surgery, I was just given the breast cancer now leaflet with all the arm and shoulder stretching. At my first mammogram my surgery scars were so painful. When I started seeing the cancer physio she said I should have been told to as soon as my surgical team were happy it had healed enough after surgery.

I was told to massage firm circular motions upwards on the scar. I posted a few days ago on this thread about Jen McKenzie The Breast Cancer Physio who has a YouTube channel with loads of help. There is also a Scar workshop with a cancer rehabilitation specialist who has had breast cancer herself at Penny Brohn charity. I had done the three weeks and itā€™s very informative especially finding about how radiotherapy causes scarring/fibrosis.If you click on Penny Brohn in pink it goes straight to the booking page, next session is in April.

Hi folks. Which date do you generally use to determine ā€˜how far outā€™ you are from the big c? Would it be from date of diagnosis or date of surgery?

@magl Thatā€™s not only very good news but, as @carrie5 pointed out, itā€™s a reminder that itā€™s not always bad news. Itā€™s so important for us to remember that when our minds take us straight to the worst case scenario.

@arty1 we are not on the same training session. :frowning: Weā€™ll have to make sure we get on one of the volunteer sessions at the same time. Your hair is growing back really well. It makes me think that maybe the cold cap isnā€™t so important with regard to regrowth. I was told it protected the hair follicle so regrowth would be better and Iā€™m certainly not complaining as itā€™s going very well. However, yours is too, which may make the decision easier for people who read this and are undecided. I ended up losing so much hair that I had to shave it all off anyway so, with hindsight and seeing your regrowth, I actually think I wouldnā€™t do the cold cap again. Losing my hair wasnā€™t the big deal I thought it would be and I rather enjoyed the liberation of shaving my head and finding that my hair didnā€™t matter. Pic attached of me at my desk with my curly hair!

@gromit12 We ARE on the same training session! Looking forward to meeting you.

@shannon27 - Hooray for the final TCHP!! Slap that bench, sister!

@jessybessy - I always refer to D-Day as my benchmark. I had so many surgeries that I wouldnā€™t know which date to use!!

Iā€™m organising a reunion for my drama school year (Class of 1992) which is booked for 3 months today so I plan to go and do a recce in Guildford this weekend and take a trip down Memory Lane. I was shocked to think it was 23 years since I graduated then had to sit down at the realisation that it was actually 33 years! :flushed:

Have a great weekend, everyone.

You are all doing great ladies, love the piggies we used to have them, hair regrowth looks amazing. My re-incision results came back clear margins. I had 2 tumours 1 was her2 positive and the other negative, residual tissue getting re examined to see if it was positive or negative residual. If negative staying on phesgo if positive starting kadcyla. Fingers crossed its negative X

Iā€™m still awaiting my results. The first block had no cancer in it. Should get results Tues/Wed/Thurs then MDT is Thursday. My Phesgo has stopped on 7th Feb which was the 8th one until I get the results but heā€™s said he doesnā€™t want to put me on Kadcyla as I got sepsis and a dvt when having chemo.

Hi I am new to this forum although I am on another.
I just wanted to say hello to everyone and introduce myself. I was diagnosed with triple positive BC just before Christmas. I had a lumpectomy and senital lymph nodes removed in January. The lymph nodes were clear but the margins were close. I had a second operation 2 weeks ago and they found cancer was still present. I need 3rd surgery after chemotherapy and radiotherapy. I start chemotherapy next week for 4 or 5 months. Then radiotherapy. I will also be on trastuzumab. Once my treatment is finished they will go in again to see if the chemotherapy has worked. If nit itā€™s a full mastectomy. I havenā€™t had a decent sleep since diagnosis. Iā€™m physically and mentally exhausted and I havenā€™t even started chemotherapy yet.

Hello @lilyanne thank you for posting, welcome, and so sorry you are finding yourself here. There is lots of advice and support from the ladies on this thread so do keep in touch with us. Iā€™m on the same sort of time frame since first diagnosis although a bit different in the detail. Itā€™s so hard getting these results at intervals and having to adapt to each lot of information. I hope there are people around who can support you and will get you out and help you enjoy days when you feel well. Hugs.

Hello lovely Iā€™m so sorry to hear about your sleep. Totally your call but I personally take a lorazepam before bed, which I have been doing since this nightmare began. I found that not sleeping was simply not an option for me.

Now Iā€™m starting to emerge from it all, I will begin to wean myself off. But they work, thatā€™s for sure.

Hi everyone, had my CT scan in preparation for radiotherapy a couple of days ago. Surgery showed pcr (apart from a bit of DCIS).

I know itā€™s not a diagnostic scan, but I assume that if they saw anything unusual they would have to do something about it? For context I have no reason to believe that thereā€™s anything bad, I just am now very paranoid after everything lol.

Also - hair growth (I think Iā€™m 10 weeks out?)

Thanks for your reply. I am definitely going to start taking something for lack of sleep otherwise I am not going to be fit for anything.
