Sorry to hear the news from your pathology but don’t worry as long as there is a drug that can cure it you will be fine.
We need more emojis ’ kick its ass’ and ‘bench slap’ for starters
Maggies definitely worth seeking out if you can find one not too far away. They were great when I was really spiralling. I’m sure you could ring one of the centres and talk to a support worker on the phone. Hang in there x
Sorry to hear this. Virtual hugs and good vibes being sent your way. Glad they already have a plan in place for you.
@sooz1 sorry you have not had very good news. With all the treatments that are available please dont give up hope sending you hugs and kisses x
@sooz1 - Sending you virtual hugs and loads of healing vibes your way. It can feel very overwhelming and I am sorry that this is not the news you wanted to hear. However, remember the medical field has really advanced well and your medical team has a plan in place. DO NOT give up, talk it out and connect with support services like Maggies, Mcmillan to help you get through this overwhelming time. You will get through this and get to the other side happy, healthy and healed. Have faith! You are stronger than you think you are.
@sooz1 oh gosh, definitely not the news one wants to hear. Sending love your way… Sad to see our team Kadcyla growing by the day but so grateful that we have access to this drug now.
@salbert good luck with your surgery today!
As for me, we’ve got Kadcyla 11/14 done this week, so the end is almost in sight. It’s a long slog, but I’m hoping it will be worth it. I think I may have over cooked it yesterday, going in to the office AND having the infusion because I came home and crashed on the couch after work. I finally told one of my closest work friends about my diagnosis after a year and a half of trying to be superwoman and not let it show to anyone. She was so sweet and supportive about it, so I’m not sure why I was so reluctant to tell anyone.
@salbert good luck with your op today thinking of you xx
@sooz1 Sorry to hear your news. Sending you lots of love. Good though that they have a plan for your ongoing treatment in place.
@salbert Good luck with the op today.
@sooz1 sending lots of virtual love your way xx
@sooz1 - I’m so sorry to read your update , you must be feeling very frightened Remember though that we are in the age of so many amazing treatments , it sounds like your cancer just needs something a bit different to fully kick it’s butt!!
A good friend of mine actually lives with stage 4 BC her2 + which is in her spine … however she is responding brilliantly to kadcyla and she’s just returned from a solo trip to Goa ! I think the latest results are that her cancer has been halted and isn’t progressing x
I should add my mum has stage 4 blood cancer , she was diagnosed in 2022 after a met was discovered on her spine after she’d been in pain for months … she had chemo and two years of immunotherapy which she’s just finished … although stage 4 she’s had a full pathological response and her cancer is currently “asleep” , she leads a full life … she’s just returned from Florida and she most certainly doesn’t look like a woman pushing eighty with cancer
… I’ve attached a pic of her and my step dad taken in October when they came to visit me before chemo
@pennyp - woohoo for finishing your phesgo … another bench slapped ! Did you have 9 or 18 ?
I agree that this thread has been invaluable
Congratulations re the new baby ! You must be excited ! I was beside myself with excitement when my daughter messaged me a scan photo back in 2022 … I was in the bath and screamed ! My poor husband thought something had happened Ted is 2.5 now and absolute delight x
@naughty_boob - Yes like you I was armed with n95 masks and still pop them on for hospital visits . Way too many bugs in hospital !
@hasnae87 you can buy n95 masks from
Amazon - I wore these to go to places like the garden centre over Christmas when bugs were rife x
@salbert - I’ve just realised your op is today ! Thinking of you and hoping all goes well today xx
@sms - I started reading your update and thought … oh this sounds positive … then my jaw literally fell open with shock ! How dare she be so condescending… there is no excuse for poor treatment … yes we are all so grateful to the nhs and the life saving treatment we’ve had but we are allowed to ask to be treated with dignity !
@salbert good luck today, may your boobs be magnificent by the end of the day! X
@salbert good luck with your operation today
Good luck with your op today @salbert. You will have knockers to be proud of by the end of the day! Xxx
Hello gorgeous girls
Well, I’m sitting here once again in a surgical gown with some fetching surgical socks on waiting to go into surgery. Stomach growling away like a good’un. Operation number six and I don’t bat an eyelid anymore.
I’m on my phone so I can’t answer individually in the way I want to but I do want to send a special big hug today to @sooz1 . Of course you feel devastated and very upset right now and I really want to put my arms around you. In fact, from the response you’ve already had, I’m sure you can feel many arms wrapped around you right now. However, the one thing we won’t allow you to do is to give up. Not that you would but it’s hard to fight on when you’ve been dealt such a blow. Which is why I want to echo what @arty1 said about her friend and her mother. I know somebody who has been living with stage 4 bc for 11-12 years now. She can be found on Instagram under the name juliasparkle. My wonderful GP told me about his friend who had metastasis all over the place but which have disappeared with treatment. My amazing Advanced Practitioner Nurse at Marsden told me that she hoped people could learn to see metastatic breast cancer as a chronic disease that you live with such as diabetes. She pointed out that diabetes would kill you left untreated. Of course it isn’t the news you wanted, but there is still so much they can do. Sending you so much love.
I’m happy for those of you who have finished Phesgo @norts @pennyp and anyone passing my cubicle right now will have just heard five sharp slaps on the plastic chair I’m sitting on.
@kartoffel It’s been such a long haul for you, but you’re so nearly there. There are going to be many benches slapped that day.
Whatever stage you are at in your journey, I wish you all love and strength. This truly is a sisterhood.
See you on the other side with a brand new pair of perky tits with any luck!
Salbert
Xxx
@salbert - waiting to go into surgery and still popping in here !! That’s dedication!!
Wishing you all the best for today and just think when you wake up you’ll have some new perky boobs …
I think my lack of sleep is impacting my critical thinking skills. I just signed up to do a 50k in September and I’ll be running in support of BCN because it would have been a much shittier experience if it weren’t for everyone in this little corner of the interwebs.
@salbert good luck for your op. I expect you will be all trussed up when you come out of surgery and hope you have some good bras, hope your recovery goes well.
@arty1 your Mum looks amazing, well done her for living life to the full, just because you’re past retirement age and have/had cancer doesn’t mean you can’t do stuff. Hopefully you have inherited her good genes.
@sooz1 big hugs, we are all rooting for you and sounds like your oncologist has got a good plan. Brilliant that others have sent you some good news stories.
@kartoffel good for you doing a challenge like that. I think you are mad, but go for it! I was thinking of doing an afternoon tea in aid of BCN, each to her own!
Penny
Hope by the time mrs posh boobs @salbert gets to read this she’ll be recovering and realising how much we all love her and are wishing her well. @kartoffel you’re mad! Where is your 50k? Flat/ hills? Do you get a running number with tracking? Then we can spy on your progress. @sooz1 Hope you’re feeling a bit calmer and have picked up on the amazing success stories @arty1 and others have been able to share. One thing you can depend on- you can always come here and no one will deliver silly platitudes just experience. Have the best weekend you all can, hope it doesn’t rain all the time.
