@kartoffel - I think your bonkers but thatās because I break into a sweat climbing the stairs ! What a great cause to to do it for though xx
@pennyp - mumās always enjoyed good health but sadly I got my dads genes ⦠he was the creaking gate ! Iāve just found out poor mum picked up norovirus on the plane coming back from Florida ⦠sheās spent two days in bed but she said sheās up and about today . I forget sometimes sheās 76 ! Thank fully she said sheās stopped being sick etc now
@sooz1 so sorry to hear your news and sending lots of virtual hugs, like the others have said there is so much they can do now but I know by far it is not the news you wanted to hear
@salbert wishing you all the best for your operation and to get the boobs you want!
I had my 5th round of chemo today, itās getting harder for sure and I am so tired now, however my latest scan showed that I am responding well to treatment and both my lymph nodes and tumour in my boob has shrunk. I have one for chemo to go in 3 weeks time then surgery, which I am starting to feel nervous about. I donāt know what surgery I am having yet but should find out a week on Monday. They said if any residual cancer left I would have Kadcyla after if not it would be phesgo and somewhere in there probably radiotherapy. However I will be happy to get this first lot of horrible chemo out the way and get my picc line out (or Vanellope as my son calls it- he is only 6 and canāt wait to have it out too so he can throw water balloons at me climb all over me again)!
Wishing you all a wonderful bank holiday weekend, I will most likely spend most of it on the sofa!
@carrie5 This is what happens when @salbert leaves us on our own⦠Itās in and around Henley, so there will be hills! Iāll share my tracker details closer to the date so you all can keep an eye on me
Dog and I just done our first park run! Caving is far less scary! All those elite runners and us at the back! Did our best to keep to one side and stop to let them past on narrower bits, didnāt get the same courtesy when theyād finished and decided it was fine to block the path for us! Marshalls were nice and encouraged us. Dog now asleep! Going round Iām thinking of you ladies @kartoffel and @gromit12 who do 10x and more!!
Sending you lots of virtual hugs @sooz1 hang in there and like others said, trust your medical team and believe there are so much they can do!ā and I hope your operation went smoothly and that youāre recovering well our wonderful @salbert
Iāve been a bit quiet over the past few months as been navigating the ups and downs of chemo (apparently it is such a bumpy roadā¦), but Iāve been following everyoneās updates closely and wanna send lots love and support. Iāve just completed my 7th round and have one more chemo to go. Iāll be having my end-of-treatment MRI and ultrasound in about a week, and the scanxiety is definitely real!
Sending positive vibes to everyone ā weāre all on this journey together, and we will get through it, one step at a time.
Itās good to go for walk and one day will be running again and they will give us way.
I went for a walk with my sister first time after my third chemo doing 25min instead of 15min, I barely could talk and was out of breath at the end.
Our body is fighting hard as well as our mind but exercising by just walking will help our muscle a bit to get stiff.
I came directly to bed and wrapped my knees with heating pad(joints pain is no joke with out treatment).
I know you wrote this post a long time ago, but as I was scrolling to get to the end of the posts, to ask a question myself, I happened to stop on your post. It must be kismet because I needed to read your post. Words are more powerful when they come from fellow warriors. I have finished chemo, had surgery, was expecting radiation after results but turned out I needed more clear margins and to love onto Kadcyla. I have had 2nd surgery, awaiting results (last lots took 6 wks!) and started Kadcyla. I have managed to sort my head, find acceptance and live life but the last 2 weeks have spun me out and have lost sense of my optimism. I called the helpline and after reading your post, I needed the helpline nurse to say what you did. So thank you @salbert you have really helped me
@salbert hope your operation went well x I have had 7 out of 15 radiotherapy treatments and had 3rd kadcyla. I am feeling great and have not had any side effects so far from radiotherapy or kadcyla so hopefully it continues. Hope everyone has a good weekend x
Sending virtual hugs. Not sure I can say anymore than has already been said. I know of a lady with mets and is going through treatment at the moment. She sees it as a positive that itās treatable. BCN donāt want anyone with breast cancer to die of the disease by 2050. Fingers crossed they can achieve this.
Many people are living with secondary and mets. Jo is @abcdiagnosis on Instagram and has loads of support and retreats for those with a breast cancer diagnosis. She designed an infographic to highlight possible secondary issues that all breast cancer patients need to be aware of, which I have found invaluable. She is also part of https://metupuk.org.uk/ āthe darker shade of pinkā
BCN have a secondary section on the forum aswell
Secondary breast cancer is full of uncertainties. But you can count on Living with Secondary Breast Cancer to be there for you, no matter what. Youāll be able to talk, listen and learn with people who understand the challenges that secondary breast cancer brings. Our groups are open to people with a secondary diagnosis. Monthly sessions, facilitated by a therapist, are held in a variety of locations across the UK and online. Find a group. And if you are 45 or under? Our Younger Women with Secondaries Together events provide information and support
LiveChat: Open to people with a secondary diagnosis. A private chat room where you can talk to others in a similar situation.
They recently started to online meet ups/chat group
Lots of support online and in person with Penny Brohn charity including an online connect group for this with secondary with a trained counsellor.
@carrie5 Sorry to hear park run etiquette wasnāt ideal. But you did it. Well done. If ever you are near Warwick, Leamington or Coventry then Iād love to run with you (assuming I can keep up!). Just to be clear, Iām too scared to attempt caving.
Ladies thankyou for encouragement on park runs, and I will try a different one! Actually Iām really just celebrating that I felt ok to do it, although to be clear it was at a brisk walk and there were very few walkers! Dog has surgery on her leg this Friday so Iām busy thinking up something different to try. Anything that gives me some sense of planning my life! Watch this spaceā¦!
Thinking of those on here going through a tough time just now, sending hugs and encouragement.
@carrie5 well done on your park run. Next week is 5k your way which is the cancer charity which works alongside park run. The last Sunday of the month. Have a look and see which one is local to you as it isnāt at every park run. They really are a fantastic bunch of people
