I don’t see the logic in stopping phesgo untoil results of surgery, surely its still needed until they decide to continue or switch to kadcyla? I continued with it until surgery and only skipped a week as it would have been due on day of surgery. It would be good to know the rationale of this and i hope its not just because of financial constraints.
In other news i was pleased to hear Priness catherine talk about how difficult things can be once you have finished treatment and how it takes time to establish the nrw you. You van’t and perhaps shouldn’t just jump back in to your old life. I wont say the new normal as Liz O’Riordan says there is nothing ‘normal’ about it. I feel this axpect of things shpuld be talked about more often.
Im due in to see my oncologist next week, amd i know that they know what they are doing but cant help feel like im not understanding why i am only on herceptin.
After 6 x tchp and an additional 3 x phesgo i had an almost complete response. My 4 lymph nodes were clear and instead of grade 2 i was grade 1.
I just thought if there was anything left i would be on kaycyla. But not sure what the sizes have to be.
Hi @shannon27 I am Herceptin only, I think clear lymph nodes and tumour size are big factors in that decision, but have your questions ready…I had so many at that stage they just pulled up the relevant research summary for me to look through! Good luck.
It’s weird how every hospital deal differently with treatment.
I stopped chemo on 29th May and My surgery on the 15 July and no one told me to stop phesgo !!! I will have it 5 days before surgery.
Bit worried now, I think I will call BCN to ask.
Hi all who are post surgery. Can i ask when your first mammogram and check up was? Initially i was told it would be 12 months from finding the lump but after several rescheduled appointment letters it will now be 15 months gap. Its worrying me. Should i push for sooner? I’m still on Kadcyla, but even then!
Hi all, haven’t posted in a while, I’ve struggling with nausea again for the week after chemo, despite being taken off Carboplatin to try to help! Ended up in hospital with high temperature so IV paracetamol and 3 hour drip, chest xray. No infection found so discharged, still dont know why i had temperature! Got me really down and tearful, hallfway through chemo now though. On a positive i was waiting for biopsy results on further area of concern and so relieved…surgeon rang and told me area looks like ruptured cyst, begnin so treatment as planned! Wishing you all a good weekend
I consented to 6 cycles of TCHP and a further 12 of trastuzumab (so 18 in total).
I had the last phesgo with cycle six of chemo - May 13th. Three weeks later just had the trastuzumab. Next dose was due on the day of my surgery so I missed it - they did ring me 3 times when I was in theatre to ask if I was attending the appointment
Oncologist said to restart it 2 weeks post op but they’ve no capacity . Having it a week later which means 6 weeks between doses.
Mind you, may find out before then if I need Kadcycla… x
I had my surgery Feb 9th and had my first post-surgery mammogram on Tuesday.
I’d read somewhere and recall someone in one of the hospitals I attend that I would have it on the anniversary of my diagnosis every year for 5 years. I contacted the hospital I had my surgery at and the BC nurse booked it for me.
Maybe call your BC nurse?
For those talking about phesgo post surgery, I had one two days before my surgery and one final dose at the end of Feb. They told me after that they would wait for pathology before working out if I needed to stay on it or start Kadcyla. It turned out to be the latter, which I started Apr 1st, a week before I started radiotherapy too. Very tricky working out what was giving me which side effects. Noone told me about any protocols, or maybe my brain blipped (happens more frequently these days) so I didn’t really register it. I just wanted to concentrate on healing from the surgery so was pleased I wasn’t needing more injections (I hated the ones I had to administer myself anyway).
*I’m awake at 2am cos I ate a huge bag of humbugs and have upset my stomach.
@hasnae87 that’s good that you carry on with phesgo. I did think with me it was maybe because they are expecting me to need to go onto Kadcyla as they can see the lump hasn’t gone fully on scans xx
My last phesgo was 8th January before surgery and after surgery i started on kadcyla 9th April, ihad to have 2 surgeries first one 3rd February second one 3rd March. I was told you dont have mammogram until a year after surgery. Im still waiting on follow up appointment after radiotherapy treatment ended which was 4 weeks ago x
Hey @maria1970
I have had 4xEC, 1xDocetaxyl, and 8xPacetaxyl, with my 9th (and final) Pacetaxyl this week.
I would agree Paxi is easier than EC (and Doxi) but does come with its issues.
I have just started getting numbness in my toes (last couple of weeks) and my toe nails are starting to lift (just noticed this morning). My only issue that’s been bad is a very runny tummy about 2-3 days after chemo.
Morning ladies, wondering how those of you who met at the event at the weekend got on? Hoping for some fun pictures on here. Good luck to everyone with this week’s chemo / investigations/ questions needing resolved. Dogs and I just booked a couple of nights away in the Peak District, weather looking nice.
Morning carrie5, I hope to see pictures too and it’s really happy for you you booked a holiday to rest and chill.
I have many appointments this week as you mention, pre op assessment, phesgo injection etc as my op next Tuesday.
