HER2+ and need some buddies

Always worth an email to moderator@breastcancernow.org

I have a feeling they may be able to change them as in the past some people have used their full name which is against the guidelines for privacy and BCN have changed them.

I had carbomer gel ( viscotears from Boots) from GP for dry eyes during chemo. It really helped.

All this dry eye talk reminded me that mine is much improved, still get moments of not being able to see but much less frequent. And dry mouth improved. The only thing changed is that I’m finally managing to get a decent dose of expensive omega 3 in as requested by my oncologist. And poss the reduced dose of Kadcyla??? Or combi?

So all the scanxiety for nothing today! Was expecting to go in for 1st post treatment mammogram. Got to appointment to meet a much warmer lovely surgeon than my usual cold one! And he asked what the appointment was for! Seems a mix up that will never get to bottom of. But he did reassure me that the scar and muscle pain at lumpectomy site is to be expected after radiotherapy and he is confident its deep scaring adhering to the muscle. I have to keep massaging adding arnica gel which I’m a fan of anyway. He then says that at Bournemouth they are now also following the 12 months after surgery rule for 1st mammogram. So thats five years of scanxiety mid December!!! He also triggered a follow up call from BC nurse which date has already come through! So an ok surprise all round. Out 15 mins later, time over to cycle on to the beach getting a cheeky ice coffee followed by a glorious swim with my sis who I’d nominated to come with me. Now resting up before Friends birthday this evening. Good start to the weekend, hope you all have a good one. X jvb

Hi all, wow so many messages to read!

I’m now three days post bilateral lumpectomies and L total node clearance. Suffering in the heat (like I’m sure we all are!) on the sofa with drain in place and sexy (ted) stockings lol.

Realised today that I’m struggling to move my arm as it is numb underneath. Hopefully the nerve damage will improve and the exercises will help. Haven’t been to loo since Monday (sorry for tmi) so on laxido with fingers crossed. It’ll probably change to lava bum tomorrow!!

Hope you are all doing ok, and for those that we’re having ops this week too, I hope they go well and you’re not too uncomfortable xxx

Hope you’re feeling comfortable swiftly. I drink sugar free cola when I’m backed up, best laxative I know (the prescribed or bought over the counter meds always give me cramps).

I’m in bed with icepacks at nearly 4am so you can tell I am hating this heat. I have a fan on full power and it’s doing diddly squit.
It’s times like this it’s probably a good thing I don’t have long hair.:thermometer::hotsprings::fire:

The wigs have been a complete waste of money for myself in this heat!
I do hope you managed to get some sleep, everything is that bit harder when tired.
Thank you for the coke tip, will send OH out to get some!

Recovering is hard at the best of time but with this added heat is must be difficult. Take it easy. I find eating pears or kiwi help move the bowels but too much is lava bum. I had laxido but wanted to try it with food first.

@jayveebee so pleased you saw a much nicer surgeon. I have had lumpy scar tissue and I’m 2 years post surgery with added cording. Cancer physio said stretching is really good, so hold skin and then stretch and hold in variety of different directions. My annual mammogram was definitely less uncomfortable with the massaging and stretching of the naughty boobs.

Penny Brohn charity do online scar therapy sessions. There isn’t any listed at the moment but if you call or email client support they can let you know when. Kate Oldham has her own YouTube and one of the scar therapy sessions recorded with PB

Also find Jen McKenzie a bc physio really helpful

Gosh that’s a lot of water! I suppose the extra hydration will help.

Yeah, I ended up buying about x3 wigs, x2 hats with hair attached, x2 headbands with fringes and given a free one from the NHS and ai rhink I only used the headbands and a wig I bought myself. Oh well, if anything happens and I need to cover my head (not likely this Summer) I’ll be prepared.

I got a little sleep but it’s making me nocturnal as it’s so disrupted.

Had my meeting with my oncologist on Wednesday and started my tamoxifen on Thursday. I asked her about scans going forward and she said there wont be any cause i had a double mastectomy and reconstruction just yearly meetings with the breast surgeon. Is this enough or should i push for more ? Im in scotland x

Looks like fun. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

When I saw the sheer size of the vehicles, no power steering I was ready to do a runner! Then the instructor managed to pick up on what got me wanting to do it and it turns out his wife has bc and is at the same stage, about to start radiotherapy. The driving was amazing but exhausting and something I just would never have done before!
@hasnae87 thinking of you amd your week ahead, good luck and let us know how you are when you can.
